Hi I'm Shawn Whittaker

I was born in Reno, Nevada, and grew up in Las Vegas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've played soccer since I was six years old. I was part of a championship marching band, and a "first-chair all-state" saxophonist. I love music, listening to and the making of. Playing hymns on my saxophone brings out a whole new side of me. I was a lifeguard on the Strip in Vegas, a true Sodom and Gomorrah. Being so close to so much negative influences makes the appreciate the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially repentance, but I also came to a better understanding of feeling the Spirit in High and Mighty places.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. I remain faithful to the religion based on the fullness and complete nature of the church. I know other churches have truths, but the Latter-Day Saints have the fullness of the restored Gospel from the biblical times. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I am able to be forgiven of my faults, sins, and transgressions. I am thus able to live in eternal salvation with my family. The blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ allows me to live in everlasting joy.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday, I've had callings such as Deacon's quorum president, Teacher's quorum president, and Priest's quorum first councilor. I am now on my mission in the Alabama Birmingham mission. I try my best to live righteously and come closer to Christ through my studies and my actions.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Shawn Whittaker
Faith begins with a knowledge to have hope upon. As we act upon the principles of the Bible and of the Book of Mormon, our faith will undoubtably increase. As we read, ponder, pray, attend church, and sacrifice out time and our efforts, we will come to a better understanding of Christ and how he blesses us. Show more Show less
