Hi I'm Steven Pond III

I'm 6'8" giant. I play basketball. I am serving the people of Chile. I love Batman. I am a Mormon

About Me

Hola amigos! My name is Steven and I am the oldest of 5 siblings. I love my family very much and they are probably the most important thing to me. I am a 6'8" skinny guy and love to play sports. Basketball is the expected favorite. Pretty much every time I meet someone new I say three things, "My name is Steven... Yes, I know I am tall... Yeah hahaha, I do play basketball!" I am a student at BYU. I love to have fun and sometimes that can lead me into doing some goofy things. I love to make a fool of myself and rip up my cool card.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church so I can't say that I know any other way to live. I do know however that I have not made this decision to be a Mormon blindly. Growing up in an area where I was one of the only LDS people has really defined me. Being exposed to so many different lifestyles and schools of thought through sports, school, and friends has made me really think about this gospel. My testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel is confirmed through prayer, personal revelation, and faith. I love my family and am grateful for the opportunity that I have to be with my family for all time and eternity. I know this is Christ's true church restored to the earth by his prophet Joseph Smith. The heavens are not closed and we continue to receive revelation to this day through the prophet Thomas S. Monson. Through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement I know I can return to live in the presence of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that His Atonement means everything to us. I am excited for the opportunity I have to go to Chile and serve the people there. I will gladly invite them to learn of the church and pray to know for themselves if this truly is the church of Jesus, as set up in ancient days. The church doesn't send out missionaries to try and trick people. We send out missionaries to invite people to come unto Christ and to taste of the overwhelming happiness that the gospel can bring you in your life. I love the Lord and His church and am proud to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Now I am going to be a missionary for the church in the country of Chile!! I will be a giant down there but it will make for a great conversation starter. Before my mission I was a hometeacher, children's sunday school teacher, and a teacher for the men at BYU. I feel a love for all the people I am around. I know I am not perfect at this but I try to make the people around me happier and enjoy life. I love to be happy. That sounds weird but I know my church is a gospel of happiness so why not practice what you preach? I love this church and truly accept and cherish its teachings.
