Hi I'm Adam

I'm a missionary in the Alps who loves languages and playing music. I want to see the world! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a keen student and look forward to starting studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University in 2018. I also have a few too many hobbies - I love the trombone, piano, learning languages, football, juggling and table tennis, and I hope some day to be able to travel the world! I've recently put all of that on hold for the next two years to be a full-time missionary for the church. My religion is such an integral part of my life; it gives me purpose, peace and motivation every day.

Why I am a Mormon

Initially, I simply went with my family to church every week, but gradually I have built my faith and knowledge of the gospel through the church's organisations for young people, the example of my family and eventually personal study. l've come to recognise the great influence of the church in my life and to realise that living the commandments just helps me be a better person. I have often felt the Holy Spirit's confirming, comforting witness of the truths of the restored gospel, a notable point for me was the first time I finished reading the Book of Mormon and really prayed, asking to know if it was true. For me, Especially For Youth, a week long summer program from the church, also gave me the environment and space to receive answers I was seeking. I know that Jesus and God love me and that my faith has brought joy to me and to my family. Being a missionary has just built my testimony that God cares about each of us and that His plan is all about who we are becoming rather than what we achieve. Many people here in Germany don't understand that God really can make a difference in their lives. I've learnt things I never knew that I never knew, and I want that to continue throughout my life.

How I live my faith

As a missionary, living my faith is absolutely essential. Studying the scriptures has become a core and (surprisingly for me!) a favourite part of my day. When they say missionaries are full-time, they mean it! Our routine goes from 6:30am to 9:30pm every day and means giving all of our time and efforts to being effective servants of the Lord. I'm blessed to be able to teach people regularly about God, his plan for us, and Jesus Christ's role in that. Missionary life is full of rules on top of the standard commandments, but somehow I feel these 'restrictions' have actually enhanced my potential, provided me with safety in a troubled world and refined my soul.
