Hi I'm JJ

I'm a music junky. I'm a wannabe voice actor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is JJ Hancock. JJ is the initials for Josiah John but I was called JJ since I was born because my mom didn't want me to be nicknamed Joe. I was raised in the little town of Beaver Dam, Utah. I usually spend my time hanging out with friends and doing crazy things like snowboarding, ghost dancing in Walmart or longboarding a full body checkered spandex suit down main roads. I love to make people laugh and feel good about themselves. Honestly some of my biggest heroes are Bill Cosby and Rowan Atkinson. One of my greatest satisfactions is when I see someone smile and laugh, it jut makes my day! I love music! There's usually not a day that goes by that I don't listen to music. Some of my favorite bands are: The Killers, the White Stripes, OK GO, Fun, and Mumford and Sons. Music is a large part of my family. I grew up playing bluegrass music as a family playing in parades and fairs or just in the home. I also play the tuba. One day I hope pe to become a voice actor. I' most known for speaking in different accents and convincing people I from other countries. Russian is my favorite. I am currently serving as a voluntary full time missionary in Phoenix Arizona. I love it here and I'm so glad I chose to serve. It has helped me grow in maturity as well as testimony. It will be a sad day when they have to drag me off the plane in March. I love serving the people here and I love my savior, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the church I still consider myself somewhat of a convert. When I was younger I just went through the motions and only did the minimum requirements. When I hit a certain point in my life I struggled with my own self esteem greatly and felt hollow and sad inside. I turned to other things to cheer me up but it just never worked. Then one day someone invited me to pray and ask God if he was really there and that he loved me. I decided to put that to the test. That single act changed my life forever. When I asked, I felt the most warm, comforting, and incredible feeling I had ever felt. All my insecurities washed away and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that He was there, that I am His son, and that He loves me. Yes, there are days where I still have those feelings of doubt and insecurity but I have the Atonement to change me and give me strength as Heavenly Father shapes me into what He needs me to be. The Gospel brings me happiness, comfort, and many other blessings in my life. I testify that this is the true church of God on the earth today. We are sons and daughters of the most powerful being in the universe and he loves us so very much. If we repent of our sins we can become even as He is. I also testify of the truthfulness of the scriptures; they give me much guidance in m life. I promise if you live the teachings in them, you will have the best life ever. I testify Christ suffered for our sins. All that our Heavenly Father wants is for us to be happy. There's nothing I can do to make him stop loving me. He wants us all back. I will do my very best not to disappoint him.

How I live my faith

I'm serving a two year mission in Phoenix Arizona to help people strengthen their faith in Christ and help them love their faith. I take every opportunity to give service to others. Whether it be pulling weeds, lifting heavy objects, or just brightening their day. I constantly strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ and keep his commandments to show my love for him.
