Hi I'm Gwen Parish

I grew up in Germany. I am currently going to BYU-Idaho. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in texas but because my dad is in the military I have moved around a lot though my life so far; but I consider Germany to be home because that is where I really grew up. Because I was blessed with living in Germany for so long I have had the privilege of traveling around different parts of europe and africa. I love traveling! I am the oldest of 8 kids and my family is awesome. They are my favorite people in the world. I am currently going to BYU-Idaho and I am a theater and speech education major. Theater has always been a huge passion of mine. I didn't think I would like BYU-Idaho as much as I do, but it has really grown on me and I can know say I love it here.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS church but I don't think I really became converted to the gospel until I was 17 or 18 years old. As a teenager I was not the best example, I did a lot of things so that I could be considered cool and "like everyone else." I wanted people to like me so I did a lot of things that brought me away from the church. I was sure that everyone around me was truly happy and living the life, but as I got sucked into that way of life I only found misery, fake friends and loneliness. I was miserable and I did not want to "give in" and go back to the church because I was sure that if I kept doing what I was doing I would some how find real happiness. This was a lie. Once I reached the point of complete misery and was absolutely alone I reached out to my savior and he helped pull me out of that dark place in my life. This wasn't easy, but with the help of family and people who loved me in the church I was able to make it and I have never been happier. I am Mormon because I know that this is where true happiness can be found. I know that my Savior atoned for my sins and not only mine but everyones. I know that he has restored the fullness of the gospel in these latter-days to help us feel his great and eternal love that he has for us. I know he listens to every single one of my prayers and that he is always looking out for me. I know, without a doubt, that The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I am Mormon because being Mormon brings me lasting happiness to my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be like my Savior a little more every day. I'm human and that means that I'm not perfect and I make mistakes but everyday I try a little harder to be a daughter of God and be who the Lord wants me to be. I go to church every Sunday and read my scriptures and pray everyday. I have decided to serve a full time mission where every day my whole purpose will to bring Heavenly Father's children back to him and help bring them the happiness which I have experienced by living the gospel.
