Hi I'm Aileen

I come from Philly. I love plants and being outdoors. I am a singer/songwriter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work in gardens outside, I backpack and rock climb and I love to sing. I am currently a student at a community college and am graduating in a month. I am sending in my mission papers in a couple of weeks to serve a mission because the age for sisters to serve missions has changed. I am serving a mission because I love my Savior, I know this church is true, and two missionaries found my mom more than 30 years ago and I want to change people's lives the way they changed ours. I am going to work at a Boy Scout camp this summer because I love the Boy Scouts and I am a Silver Award recipient for Venturing. I love this gospel and I love being around people and other cultures because they help me grow and learn. We can learn so much from each other which is also why I love to sing and write songs. Music in the church and uplifting music in general has changed people's perspectives and ideas for centuries. It touches people in ways words cannot and I love that.

Why I am a Mormon

I always wanted to be the "cool" Mormon. The one who teeters on the edge of believing everything that I have been taught since I was a small child. This direction in life is the easy route. You feel as though, growing up where you are the only member of your church at school, that you can get away with it. I tried hard but I couldn't blend in with others at school. I was always set apart from them. It was finally when the age changed for sister missionaries to serve missions at age 19 that I looked back over high school and who I was. I was never so sad in all my life. I finally realized, I am a representative for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I need to look it. I was too selfish and rebellious and proud to see it. I prayed hard and long, read the Book of Mormon and studied it every day and things started to get better for me as I started to prepare for a mission. I want to bear my testimony that I love this church. I know that because of my Savior my family and I will be together forever through my Father in Heaven's plan. I know we have a prophet on the earth today and his name is Thomas S. Monson. I know that Joseph Smith is the prophet of the restoration of the gospel and that he saw the Savior and Heavenly Father in the Sacred Grove. I am a child of God, I am a daughter of God with divine nature and individual worth. I will stand, always as a witness to the truthfulness of this gospel, a disciple of Christ.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the activities co chair person for my YSA (young single adult) branch and I work with my committee to create activities people can attend and bring their friends to. This creates an awesome environment for missionary experiences and helps us to build memories with each other. I have noticed such a great change in my branch just because of those memories we can go back on. I love my calling. I visit teach three of the most wonderful sisters but I think I am biased. I love them all and they teach me so much about myself. I strive to learn from them their hobbies, future plans, and needs I can help them with. Their examples help me everyday to become a better person, more Christlike as I become closer to them. It is such a blessing in my life.

What is the Relief Society?

Aileen
The Relief Society is where a group of women get together once a week for church services to discuss ways we can not only be better ourselves but in ways we can help others. We also get together once a month with this goal as well. We strive for compassionate service wherever it is needed. No matter what age, sisters grow together and learn to work together to help those in our ward and those in need. Show more Show less
