Hi I'm Katie

I was born and raised in a small town in Idaho. I love exploring nature, riding my bike and taking pictures.

About Me

I love meeting people and getting to know who they are. I also love taking pictures. I have the best of both worlds when I do my work as a professional photographer. After graduating from college I created a my own portraiture business. I love what I did. A couple months ago I re-evaluated my life and decided I needed to do something different for a season. I am now serving a full time mission in Florida to help build the Kingdom of God. I love this experience! In the short time I have been serving already, I have learned so much, met many people, and have come closer to understanding more completely the love our Heavenly Father and Savior have for each of us.

Why I am a Mormon

The knowledge of the gospel is my life line. There is so much good in this world. Though because of opposition, there is also a lot of bad. At times life hurts. During these times it is hard not to despair. But there is always hope, and it is only through Christ. He heals every pain and every hurt. The gospel may not change every aspect of my life, but it definitely changes my perspective so that I can recognize the good and create learning and growing experiences out of my trials and struggles. All the opposition in life gives us opportunities to grow and become a little more like Christ amid the storms in life.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving a mission to share the truth and knowledge that has brought me my greatest joys and peace in life. There have been many times in life that I have experienced confusion, doubt and fear. I've felt surrounded by darkness. By remembering my Savior and the words of God, the darkness is quickly dispelled. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I have a responsibility to share what I know so that I can share the light of Christ with others, that their paths in life may also be illuminated by the fruits of His spirit. My love for our Heavenly Father and Savior has changed the way I perceive myself and all those around me. We are his children. He loves us. I feel the love they have for me. It is more than I can describe. His powerful love is the greatest motivation. Because I feel this love, I begin view people through Christ and see them how our Savior sees them.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We love the King James Bible! We believe that it contains the word of God. Throughout history men, though well-intentioned, have taken out many simple but important doctrines because of a lack of understanding. This is one of the reasons why we have the Book of Mormon; to confirm the teachings and prophecies of the bible. It is another witness and also explains doctrines and principles that have been omitted from the book. One of my favorite scriptures that defines how the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible work together is in 2 Nephi 3:12, found on page 61 of the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
