Hi I'm Simon

I'm a father, an environmental consultant and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Married to my beautiful wife Sarah and father to three loving children. I'm currently working as an environmental consultant. I love my music, especially jazz and world musics. I play percussion and acoustic guitar. I also love outdoor adventure, particularly hill walking/climbing in Scotland. The Highlands of Scotland happen to be my favourite destination in the whole wide world. It is so beautiful and reminds me of the majesty of Gods creation. Other past-times include reading a good book, watching a good uplifting film or most importantly spending good quality time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a convert to the Church when I was 32 years old. Before my conversion I may of been considered as being non-religious or even disinterested in religion or God. I felt no need for God in my life at that time not knowing that He was involved whether I knew it or not. However, experiencing the death of someone who I loved dearly helped to bring me to the point where I was ready to hear or feel the Spirit of God reach out to me with love and gently make His presence known. I can distinctly remember the feeling of great joy and happiness overwhelm me and fill every molecule within me. Through a friend I was introduced to the Church and was prompted to have the missionaries come and teach me the gospel. I knew, through what I was taught and from reading the Book of Mormon, that the Church was true and I desired to be baptized. I have learnt so much that I would not have dreamed of knowing before my conversion. I have had experiences never before felt in my life, knowing who I really am - a son of God who loves me with a pure love. My life has greater meaning and purpose.

How I live my faith

I attend Church with my family every Sunday. I find Sunday to be the most uplifting day of the week. It is a time to rest from all my worldly cares, to worship Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father and to meet with good friends. I have had various callings (positions) granted me within church. I have spent many years working with with the young men within our ward who range between 12 and 17 years old. I am now assigned to work within Elders quorum. A quorum is essentially a group of priesthood holders. It is our responsibility to serve those around us, using the authority of the priesthood. I try to live my life according to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. I spend time in pondering and studying the scriptures combined with daily continual prayer to my Father in Heaven. This has brought me closer to my Heavenly Father and brought me much joy and happiness.
