Hi I'm Ross

I love to surf and be by the sea. I am a student, a husband, an uncle; and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I have always loved the outdoors and enjoy spending time with my wife Briony visiting historic properties, walking, camping and when possible, surfing. We enjoy visiting new countries and love seeing new cultures, differing lifestyles…and of course new food. I enjoy playing golf (weather permitting) mostly because I enjoy the banter that goes on between me and my family members. My studies in City and Regional Planning are a big part of my life at the moment and I have felt so blessed to have met certain students that have helped me in an unfathomable way. The love and support I get from my wife has proved invaluable and I am convinced that my studies would not have been possible without her by my side.

Why I am a Mormon

I like to joke that I became a Mormon by default (I was born into it) but that I stay a Mormon by choice. Like most teenagers, these selective years were a trying period. A period where I became 'too cool for everything' and ones where I was destined to be a rock star (or so I thought). However my heart began to change and now this may sound strange but it is true. When I was 18 I was sat in college at the computer almost in a daze when a strong impression (feeling/voice call it what you will) said that you need to go on a mission. I don't know why it came to me at this time but I know that following the impression I received that day has changed my life for the better. Jesus Christ is central to my faith. I know that he lives and that through his Atoning sacrifice, I can be washed clean from the mistakes that I make. The Book of Mormon teaches and testifies of Him and I am so grateful for the prompting I received that day, that pointed me in a direction that has truly changed the course of my life.

How I live my faith

When I found out that I was to go to the West-Indies for 2 years as a voluntary missionary I thought, 'where even is the West-Indies?' Living and serving in the countries of Guyana, Trinidad, Grenada, St Kitts & Nevis, has blessed my life in more ways than I can count. Being stripped of all my family and friends and being thrown into completely different cultures and countries, helped me to truly rely on my Saviour Jesus Christ. My Christian faith is all about families. I do not think of anything quite as sweet as the knowledge that if I am faithful I can be with my wife and family forever. Because of this, my wife and I strive to strengthen our marriage by praying together, doing fun activities that make memories, spending quality time together, serving and taking the time to serve each other.
