Hi I'm Leighton

I grew up in Oregon. I love board sports, soccer, climbing and the outdoors. Served a mission in Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student at Brigham Young University-Idaho and am currently studying advertising. I served a 2-year mission in Brazil and I speak Portuguese fluently. My hobbies include wakeboarding, surfing, snowboarding, longboarding, rock-climbing, and soccer. My family and friends are extremely important to me and I love them. I have a strong faith in Jesus Christ and His true gospel. I try to be like him in everything I do especially in my service to others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony, a belief, an assurance that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of Our Savior Jesus Christ. It is the same organization that existed in the primitive church and is led by God through a live prophet today on Earth. It's teachings are those of Christ's and they lead to happiness in this life and throughout all eternity with our families. I know this church is true because I have read and prayed about The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know that God gave it to us in these days as proof that the true church was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. I am a Mormon because it brings me more true joy and happiness than anything else in this life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my hardest to be a Christ-like example in all that I do. I know I'm far from perfect, but I believe that showing love to everyone is important regardless of what mistakes I or someone else has made. I read my scriptures daily if possible and pray to my Father in Heaven morning and night and throughout the day when needed. This helps me feel His comfort by the Holy Spirit that He sends me which in turn helps me make right choices and be happy. I attend church every sunday where I take the sacrament in remembrance of Christ's atonement and also to re-new by baptismal covenants made with God. I also learn of the gospel and am uplifted every sunday from the lessons and talks given in church by the other members. I absolutely love sharing the gospel and teaching it to others who are interested in learning more about it or Jesus Christ.
