Hi I'm Taylor Strickland

Missionary in Houston

About Me

Just a good ole boy keepin' things simple. Born Texan, and raised in Arizona; currently serving a mission in Houston! Absolutely lovin' the work; it's amazin' to see how lives can be touched through the power of the Holy Spirit. I love to help with any kind of service; anywhere from fixin' cars n' trucks, to helpin' with your shingles, gardenin', whatever you've got. I especially love workin' out on the ranches here in Houston, I'm definitely considerin' runnin' my own someday. Dirty hands and a clean soul. I've got one big sis, and an amazing dad and mama that I love like crazy. My family has kept me afloat for years--I'd probably not even be here right now if it wasn't for them. I love the mountains; they are seriously God's creations. There is no other place that I love more to go shootin', 4-wheelin', runnin', campin', you name it. It's peaceful and beautiful; there's a reason that God asked His prophets to go up into the mountains so He could speak with them. I love the gospel and the blessin's that come from livin' it--It is true. I have no doubt of that; it has, and continues, to bless me on a DAILY basis. I have seen (and even been lucky to be apart of) miracles in other people's lives, as well as my own. God bless y'all!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and I can't see anything about the world makin' sense without it. Our Heavenly Father can make all things possible; if He see's it fit to happen, it'll work out somehow. I love servin' others, because there's a feelin' like no other when you see them light up with gratitude. It's like Christmas all over again. The Holy Spirit is incredibly real; it can and will tell you what to do when a choice is placed before you. I love the gospel, and without it, my family, and my privilege to pray to my Father in Heaven, I would not be alive right now.

How I live my faith

Was a Primary teacher for 8 and 10 year olds for about a year. I promise you, it's the best job in the church :) What I love about the kids I teach so much is how willing they are to listen and believe. The most important value to have in our church is faith. Christ himself said to those he healed almost every time: "Thy faith hath made thee whole". I KNOW through faith all things are possible; I've seen miracles happen through just a desire to believe. Never doubt the strength of your courage, nor the power of your faith. Faith + Obedience = Blessings.

What is faith?

Taylor Strickland
Faith is (at it's smallest form) a desire to believe something is real when you haven't seen it with your own eyes. At it's strongest, it's the knowledge that what you believe is true. Christ has said if you have faith the size of a tiny seed, that's enough to move mountains if you needed to. Have faith. When we believe, all things are possible. Without it, nothing is possible. How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Taylor Strickland
We don't want you to just take our word for it; God knows who you are (even better than you know yourself). He created you, He sent you down here, and He ain't gonna abandon you. We can feel His presence through the Holy Spirit; it will send you a feeling of warmth and safety. One of my favorite ways to find the Spirit is through music: Hymns, arranged pieces that praise Christ, anything that encourages you to become closer to our Father and His Son. We can also pray to our God; a personal conversation with Him to say what we are thankful for, and what we need in our lives. We can petition to have His hand help us with our personal problems. He hears every single prayer you send, and in one way or another, He will answer you. Search the scriptures, look for the words that speak most to you. They are for EVERYONE who wishes to find an answer to a prayer, a question, a struggle, anything. Never assume that your life is too far gone, or just can't apply to the holy words they contain. You will find peace through them if you truly want to find what you're looking for. Show more Show less
