Hi I'm Aubrey

I love the outdoors and being active including hiking, camping, and yoga. I love to travel and explore new places. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Utah as the only girl with three brothers. Besides dancing all growing up, I was a true tomboy and spent most of my time hanging with my bothers and their friends. After High School I nannied for a Jewish family near Boston Massachusetts, which was a great experience. In college I became really involved in volunteer work which helped me in my educational pursuits in Social Work. I went on to graduate school and loved the opportunity to travel and serve in orphanages in Guatemala the summer following graduation. I have worked as an LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) for the last 7 years, working mostly with troubled youth and their families. I have loved seeing those I work with grow and progress as well as have had great opportunities to travel with some of them to an orphanage in Mexico, do service and sea kayaking in Alaska, and head a 10 day humanitarian service trip to Costa Rica. I am married to my best friend and have loved all of our travels, fun, and adventures together and am now looking forward to our next adventure together of having our first baby (girl) soon!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church but really became truly converted after a difficult time in my early 20's. It was then that I really questioned what I believed and why. I am a Mormon not only because I grew up in the church, but because I believe it with all my heart and have found great understanding, peace, and happiness from living the principles. I have a testimony of our Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ and feel personally connected to them. I am grateful for the atoning sacrifice that Christ made for me so that I can return back to live with them again. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith and his work in restoring the gospel as well as the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I have a testimony of prayer and the great opportunity we have to speak with our Heavenly Father daily. I have had many prayers answered, and have learned to have faith in Heavenly Father's plan for me and time frame (which is often different from my own :) I have a testimony of a living prophet today, President Thomas S Monson and know he and the other leaders of our church are called of God. I have a testimony of Temples and have found great peace and happiness in serving there.

How I live my faith

I work to stay in daily contact with my Heavenly Father through prayer, and continually work on increasing my knowledge and testimony of the Gospel through study of the scriptures and reviewing the conference talks. My husband and I read scriptures together daily and kneel in nightly prayer. We strive to attend the Temple together monthly and have really enjoyed being able to take family names and doing the work for them. I love working with youth and have the great opportunity of working with the 16-18 years old girls in our ward! I love their energy, their enthusiasm, and helping them prepare for the next step in their lives. We talk a lot about the fundamental principles of our faith and how we can work to more diligently live them everyday. I love how strong the youth are in this area, they really are a strength and an inspiration to me of living righteously in these challenging times. We have great gospel discussions where I enjoying hearing their testimonies and how they are applying the gospel principles in their daily lives.
