Hi I'm Philip

I grew up in Kingston, Surrey. I am the father of eight children and have one grandson. I teach children, I am a Mormon

About Me

I have been married for thirty years and have two girls and six sons. My patient wife has put up with me all these years. I spend my time teaching children aged between four and eleven. So many wonderful comments come out the mouths of the young. They have such a keen insight into this world and have a great many ideas on how to solve the problems that the world faces. My spare time is shared with my family, lots of daddy daughter nights and taking my sons home teaching. My wife and I enjoy going to the temple and serving there. We both appreciate the importance of carrying out our our family history and tracing my ancestors. When I get time I like to go cycling or hiking with one or other of my children. In good weather you will find me camping, often with the youth. Many years ago I served a mission in Scotland. There I learnt that loving the people and caring for them was a great way to teach the gospel. I am glad that the gospel is there to support me. I am looking forward to watching my children and grand children grow up.

Why I am a Mormon

Many years ago on a wet and windy Friday 13th, my family chose to be baptized into this church. I have never regretted that choice and the blessings I have received. While serving a two year mission in Scotland I really began to appreciate how important this church was and is in my life. Since then I have had many opportunities to serve in different assignments and callings. I am glad that my family on the whole have chosen to follow me and come to church with me. Thoughout my life I have faced many challenges and difficulties but the gospel and my faith in the Lord has helped me to get through them successfully. Having a witness from the Holy Ghost that I have made the right choice has certainly helped me over many years. To know within my heart that there is a Heavenly Father and that providing I keep the commandments I will one day return back to him and be reunited with my loved ones is a great comfort to me.

How I live my faith

I am actively involved in my local church. My role in the church at the moment allows me the opportunity of visiting different wards/parishes and addressing their congregations on a regular basis. I also watch over the seminary program in the area. This is where teenage boys and girls attend a daily religious class - often early in the morning and learn about the scriptures. When visiting different areas I also have the chance to teach the youth on a Sunday. During most months I visit the homes of members that have been assigned to me. This gives me the chance to go with my son and share gospel message and read some scriptures. We can also give help and service to the family or individual. We have many good discussions covering different topics as we travel around the area. My family have taken part in different plays and show over the years. This is where we get chance to have fun together and work with others.
