Hi I'm Peter

I grew up in the US. I served a mission in Ukraine. I love people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Peter, and I served a mission in Central Ukraine. I'm currently a Junior at BYU, studying business and Russian. I have a myriad of interests that I love exploring: I like being outside and I love to swim and ride my 1980s fluorescent purple road bike. I really enjoy buying cheap second-hand clothing. I love boating, I love skiing, and after all these years I'm still REALLY good at Pokémon.

Why I am a Mormon

Guys, this is the Church of Jesus Christ. By living by His teachings, I've become so convinced that this church is true. My conviction stems from the effect that the Savior's teachings have had on me. When I was 19, I was one of the most self-centered, arrogant, lazy people that you'll meet. My GPA plummeted and my drive to be a good person was flagging. I knew that something had to change, and I decided to serve a two-year volunteer mission in Ukraine. Being in Ukraine, I came to understand that (contrary to popular belief) THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND ME. There are so many other people that deserve the blessings of Christ's teachings. They deserve to know that they can personally change, and that they can change the circumstances around them. They deserve a pat on the back, they deserve to be lifted up, and they deserve an opportunity to help others around them. By learning of Christ, I started to change. I think about other people now, about how they feel and what they think. I think about what I can do to help them. I can still be a loser from time to time, but I feel the change, and I love it. I want to share this personal change with the world! I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ can strip all of the impurities and inconsistencies that are inherent to humans. We can become kind, caring, faithful, hard-working people. ALL of us!

How I live my faith

Living faith in Jesus Christ means DOING things. In the community, for your friends, for people in your classes, for people on the street, it doesn't matter! Christlike behavior ranges between anonymously donating $100,000 to a home for orphans and buying a friend lunch. It can be giving a passionate speech about the value of kindness, or by calling up an old friend and letting them know that you still remember them. Living faith in Jesus Christ is all about people. Everyone is a child of our Heavenly Father, and they all have much more value than we sometimes ascribe to them. We all should work at treating each other a lot better. That's the example that the Savior set, and I want my life to be about following it.
