Hi I'm John

I grew up in Idaho USA. I'm a retired business manager in food production and distribution. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After growing up in Idaho, USA, and going to university to get a Ph.D. in plant genetics, I have worked and traveled around the world, while working in various parts of food production, processing, preservation, and distribution. I have seen some of the poorest and richest parts of this world, and it has helped me to love and understand my desire and responsibility to help care for God's children as my brothers and sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon by heritage. My ancestors first joined the church in 1834, and some were personal friends of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, early Mormon prophet leaders. I have read the personal journals of some of those ancestors, and I am grateful for their many acts of courage in helping to establish the Mormon church, and also establishing a heritage of faith in my family. In addition to this heritage of faith, I have received my own personal witness that God is my Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ is my Savior. They love me, and care about the way that I live my life, and the way I care about and care for others. This personal witness continues to grow within my heart, as I study scriptures, pray in faith, and serve my family members and others around me. I have seen great blessings come to those around me who accept Christ's influence and guidance in their lives. I know that He will guide you, too, with that peace and comfort that comes through living the gospel principles He taught.

How I live my faith

One of the most important ways that I live my faith is through serving others. I have had many opportunities to do this throughout my life. My wife and I retired a year ago, and are preparing to serve a mission for the Mormon church. We have been assigned to serve in New Caledonia, in the southwest pacific. We hope this will be the first of many missionary opportunities to serve our brothers and sisters throughout the world.
