Hi I'm Jory

I'm from Arizona, I love fishing, camping, listening to music, being with friends, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19 years old, I love to do crazy things with my friends and lots of action sports. Growing up I played a lot of soccer and video games. As I got older I got into lifting weights with my friends. I love to wakeboard, snowboard, watch movies, and play just about any sport. Currently I'm enjoying learning Spanish, it has been really awesome to be able to learn and understand more about the latino culture and communicate myself with people that I wouldn't normally be able to communicate with. I studied a little bit before the mission in college, and I hope to continue that after. I'm studying pre-med, so I plan on being in school for a while. Back at home I loved to go out in the desert with my friends and drive my truck. I come from a large family of 8, and we also take care of foster children so it's a relatively busy house. I like to laugh and I like meeting new people and making new friends. I love camping, fishing, hunting, and boxing from time to time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born in the gospel. Although I was born in the gospel, I still had to find out for myself if it was true or not. I did have support from my family but ultimately it was my decision to be a faithful member, and continue to live the standards and commandments that God has given us. Although I may have been born into the gospel, it was not any easier for me to find the truth. The process is the exact same to find out for oneself. Reading, praying, attending church, and at this point it's not like it's a bias, everything just makes sense. The gospel helps us to become better people and has helped me in my life to develop the characteristics and qualities that I want to have. The best thing about the gospel is, is that its applies to everyone no matter what your situation is.

How I live my faith

Well right now I'm serving a mission in Perú. I'm enjoying being here and learning a new language and meeting a lot of new people. I came because I always thought the church was true, and being here has definitely reinforced that thought. Now I can say that I don't have doubts. I know that anyone can know the church is true if they just read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. It's a leap of faith but well worth the time. If a person reads and prays and finds out for him or herself, it can and will benefit them and give them direction and comfort in their life. There is nothing to lose from reading and praying, and there is more to gain than a person can imagine.
