Hi I'm Maxine

I'm from South Africa and have loved growing up in such a beautiful and diverse country. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Maxine, I live in South Africa and I am currently serving my mission in the New Zealand, Wellington mission. I have loved my experience so far and have learned a lot just in the last couple of days that i have been here. I'm proud to be a representative of Jesus Christ and His church.

Why I am a Mormon

Like a lot of members, I was born into the church. My grandparents were the first to join through what I can only define as divine intervention. So, I've had these teachings in life right from the start and honestly if it had been any other way I'm sure things would be very different right now. However, Heavenly Father has it all planned and I know that it was no accident that I had the opportunity to learn how to live the gospel from a very young age. I'm a Mormon because in a world that makes absolutely no sense, that's confusing, disruptive and can never seem to make up it's mind, there is something solid that we can stand on. The Son of God, our rock. I'm a Mormon because in my heart and in my head it makes sense to be. I'm a Mormon because I believe that there is a God and that he has a plan for me in this crazy world. He has prepared a way for me to make it through and every time I have trusted in that simple knowledge things have always worked out for the better. I don;t need anymore evidence to prove that He's here. That He knows and that He cares.

How I live my faith

I am a youth Sunday School teacher. It feels great to teach the gospel again and even though the youth I teach are all very smart and seem to have burning testimonies of the Savior already, teaching them reminds me of the many wonderful experiences I had while serving the Lord in New Zealand. How I live my faith is an interesting question, because, although I go to church, say my prayers and read my scriptures, there are so many more ways to live my faith, a faith which was given to me by a loving Heavenly Father. A gift he can only give if we want it and if we do want it we will be willing to work for it. If I could list all those ways we could live our faith, we would be here forever, but, I believe what shows that we are living our faith is that we're scared, that we trust that the Savior will lead us to where we need to be, to where we need to stand out, not bend in.
