Hi I'm Colleen

I'm a wife, a mother and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am the youngest of 4 children and grew up in Bristol, England. In 2010 I met my husband while we were serving as Counsellors at an LDS youth camp (Especially for Youth/ EFY). We are now married and living in Lisburn, Northern Ireland with our son, Rory. I love to sing, dance and play sports. In my youth I performed on stage in different theatres in Bristol and have also participated in different church choirs and stage productions. I love being a mother and look forward to having more children one day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church and was encouraged by my parents to attend Church each week and learn about the Gospel so I could develop my own testimony. Just after I turned 18 I realised that I had always been relying upon what my parents had told me they believed but had never really found this for myself. I spent a few months studying more about the Gospel and while reading from the Book of Mormon I read the section known as 'Moroni's promise' from the book of Moroni, chapter 10 verses 3 - 5. Moroni promised that if we prayed to our Heavenly Father with real intent and a desire to know the truth, we would receive an answer. After I had read this I prayed to know if the things I had been taught throughout my childhood were true; and I later received an answer that it was. I am a Mormon, quite simply, because I have received an answer to my prayer, that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth today and I have this reconfirmed to me as I continue to study and pray. I know that my Saviour was born to his earthly mother Mary and that he lived and later died for our sins. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and I know that we still have a prophet on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson who is called of God and receives latter-day revelation. I truly believe that through the Atonement of my Saviour, I will be saved from my sins and will not be separated by death, from my family, so long as I believe and follow His teachings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be the best person I can be. I try to pray always and study the scriptures and other Church literature to increase my knowledge and faith of my Saviour Jesus Christ and his teachings. I am currently a teacher for the children aged 5-8 within my ward, and love to hear them share their testimonies and the experiences they have. I have also worked with the youth in my previous ward and the women over 18, and have loved each calling, serving those around me. I find great joy in doing service for others and sharing my testimony with them and I hope to serve as a senior missionary for the Church, with my husband, later in life

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is referred to as a 'worldwide sisterhood' for women of 18 years of age and older. It is the oldest and largest women's organisation in the world. The aim and purpose of the Relief Society is build faith and to strengthen families, homes and others that are in need. I love being part of such a wonderful organisation and the support I receive from my fellow 'Sisters' and the opportunity I have to serve them as well. Show more Show less
