Hi I'm Kelsie

I'm your average college student just trying to figure out life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the typical college student. I am just trying to figure out life and how to live it the best way I can. I love music! I also really like reading, watching movies, parks, and running through the sprinklers (it's about the little things). I served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Porto Alegre, Brazil and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was the best decision I have made in life so far! My parent's were divorced when I was about 11 so I have lived in a small, single-parent family for most of my life. I have one little brother who I think is absolutely amazing. My family is so important to me. I don't know where I would be without them. Although it hasn't always been an easy life, I am grateful for all the experiences that have helped shape me and continue to shape me into someone better than I was.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home. My parents are both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, when I was young, my family and I did not attend church very often. When my parents were divorced my mother began taking my younger brother and I to church every Sunday. At first I resisted and disliked having to attend church, but after some time I realized the difference it made in me. My life had been so dark and sad throughout my parent's divorce. When we returned to church, I found myself happier than I had ever been. Difficulties still came and trials in my life were still hard but they were no longer devastating because I had a sense of who I was and my purpose. I knew that my Heavenly Father and Savior loved me and would help me even if I was imperfect and had a lot of growing to do. As I get older I still remember my feelings so clearly. I cannot forget the difference in how my life was before I had the gospel. I cannot forget the light that came into my life after my family and I began attending church and applying the gospel teachings into our lives. I am no longer the person I was before. I am so happy. I know that this is the true church. Nothing less could make me feel so much joy, love, and peace.

How I live my faith

I hope that being a Mormon is something that applies to me every single day of my life and helps me to be better and to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ. Prayer, scripture study, and attending church are all just a few simple things that I do to help me live my faith. By doing these simple things I am able to come closer to my Heavenly Father and Savior. I am far from perfect and make mistakes daily, but I try to do what I know is right and what my Heavenly Father would want me to do. I try to look for opportunities to lift those around me and make their day a little better. I have been so blessed and I hope that I am able to help and bless those around me.
