Hi I'm Rebekah

I'm from California and am serving as a full time missionary for the church in Brazil, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am college student studying recreational therapy. I love hiking, kayaking, boogie boarding and lots of other outdoor activities. My dream job would be playing sports with students with physical disabilities, but above all I desire to be a mother. In high school I was the girl who did everything: tap dancing, water polo, running track, playing the tuba, baking, and somewhere in it all making time for my friends, my family, and the church. I still enjoy doing all of those things but had to learn a lesson in prioritizing and deciding which things in my life were "good, better, and best". When I'm not on an adventure I like to experiment making dessert in the kitchen. My family is the happy recipient of my experiments (which usually turn out quite well). My favorite ingredient is chocolate.

Why I am a Mormon

I learned at a very young age that I was a child of God. My parents taught me the teachings of Jesus and I loved them. I loved going to church and learning about Jesus. When I went to church and learned about Jesus I felt happy and peaceful. As I continued to grow I continued to learn and those happy, peaceful feelings continue to testify to me of the truth of what was being taught. I gained a testimony over several years, gradually coming to know the teachings of the church were true; it did not happen all at once. I know that I am a daughter of God. I love Him and I know He loves me. I strive to be like Him in all things and know that when I choose the right, he is proud of me and will bless me. I know that through Christ I can be made clean when I make a mistake. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God because I have read it and asked God if it was true. I know that Joseph Smith restored the church of God to the earth. I know all of these things because I have felt the Holy Ghost testify of their truth to me. He can testify of the truth of all things to all men if they will ask.

How I live my faith

As a full time missionary, I am devoting 18 months to serving the Lord. I put many things on hold in order to serve, including school, internships, my job, my friends, and much more. It may seem like too much to give but one of my greatest desires is to be like Jesus, and he certainly served. I look forward to teaching and to sharing what I know to be true with others. Living the teachings of Jesus makes me truly happy and I because it does, I want everyone to know of these things. Before I left to serve as a missionary, I taught a Sunday school class of young adults at my school. I try to make service a priority in life. I find that I am happiest when I am serving others. I also read from the Book of Mormon each day and talk to my Heavenly Father through prayer often.
