Hi I'm Michael

I'm from Texas. I'm studying Electrical Engineering. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 4 (including my parents). I grew up near Dallas, Texas. I'm currently a graduate student in Electrical Engineering. I like my studies, especially the time I get to spend teaching an undergraduate robotics class. I love to read anything I can get my hands on, but when I have time to just read for fun, I like sci-fi/fantasy. I enjoy playing and listening to music - classical and jazz especially. Also, I enjoy sports of all kinds, but especially volleyball and tennis. It can be a struggle to balance work, school, social activities, and my participation at church, but, through all the ups and downs, I'm able to keep an overall positive outlook with hope and high expectations for the future.

Why I am a Mormon

Living my life according to the principles that I have learned as a Mormon has brought me great happiness. Knowing of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ gives me confidence and determination to become better each day. I feel peace and hope even in difficult times because I know there is a God who cares about me personally, and that if I do what is right, things will turn out. I grew up going to church with my parents, but when I was 18 years old, I began to seriously question what I had been taught. I began to study the Book of Mormon with the idea of determining for myself if it was true. After reading and praying a lot, I felt God confirm to me that the book and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came from Him -- that their teachings were true, and that this was where He wanted me to be. I have never regretted the decision that I made that day to live as a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I spend time each day reading from the scriptures and try to apply what I learn there. I pray regularly to thank God for the blessings He gives me, and to ask for his help and direction in my life. I do my best to follow the guidance He gives me. I try to treat others with kindness and respect. I express my love for my family and friends and do my best to serve those around me whether it be helping pick up the scattered notes of another student, donating blood, or comforting a friend who has recently lost a loved one. I attend church meetings weekly to learn and renew promises that I have made to God. I volunteer in my congregation as a secretary organizing meetings and keeping track of calendars. I maintain hope and confidence that, as I try my best to live a good life, God will support and direct me to those things that will help me grow and develop and, one day, return to live with Him.
