Hi I'm Laurel

I'm the oldest of seven kids. I love goldfish crackers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love goldfish crackers. I also love ultimate frisbee, singing in the rain, drawing cartoon people on thank you cards, and going on adventures. I'm studying Humanities at BYU, which has helped me to open my mind and heart to the different cultures, creations, and truths in the world. I've played the piano since I was four years old, and I have taught students ranging from age five to age forty-five. Being the oldest of seven children is crazy, but it is a blast. My favorite family time is in our pop-up trailer in the mountains or sitting on the kitchen floor eating homemade popcorn and playing "Uno." My family brings me joy. Christmas 2012 my family joined a nonprofit group to build a house in Mexico in one week. Incredible experience. It is amazing how people around the world come together through service and love for Christ. For the next 18 months I will be sharing my knowledge of Jesus Christ with the people of Honduras. I am so excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Christ. I know He lives. I know He loves me and wants me to be happy. He is my Savior, my Redeemer, and my friend. With Christ in my life I continue to find joy and keep the faith regardless of how grey some days can be. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it helps me keep perspective on why I am here and what my purpose is on earth. Through Christ I find joy.

How I live my faith

When I was younger, I was not a positive person and I wanted to change. My mom challenged me to look at life through a "glass half-full" instead of "half-empty." I accepted the challenge to "Make it a great day...for someone else" through focusing outward instead of inward. I have continued to make a daily effort to bring out the good in life and compliment it. By choosing Christ as my focus, I can find good in each day and live with a smile. I live my faith by living as Christ would. I share my faith through my smile, my service, and my love for others. *happiness*
