Hi I'm Ian

I was born in South Carolina and raised in Florida. I am a cellist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young adult. I have recently graduated from Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida with an A.A. in Computer Science Engineering. I plan to attend a university in the near future to study Computer Programing and hopefully land a job as a computer programmer so that I may support my up and coming future family. I am happily engaged to the woman of my dreams and we are due to be married in August of this year (2013). I play the cello and enjoy working in small ensembles. Jazz is the best music though I do also like country. For now, I do a lot of traveling though usually not out of the state of Florida.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because a dear friend of mine was kind enough to share this secret treasure with me. I was incredibly anti-religion at the time I was introduced to the missionaries. Upon getting to know them a little better I realized that these "Elders" as they were called, were the real deal. I was intrigued by the fact that all the members of the church truly strived to live what they were preaching. I decided the best way to test this and see if it was for me would be to live the standards of the church members. I wasn't worried about any harm coming to me as the essence of the commandments are to provide protection and health and so forth. It didn't take long after that for me to realize that my friend had handed me a large safe of gold not expecting anything in return. They simply wanted to allow me to know that this church was here. That there are people who truly live what they preach. Shortly after that I was baptised and I haven't looked back since.

How I live my faith

I currently attend a local YSA ward where I am the "Fast Feast" Coordinator. On the first Sunday of every month, our ward has a large dinner at the end of our Fast & Testimony Sunday. I am in charge of passing out the sign up sheet so that I can send a reminder out to those who would like to have one. My fiance is currently between cities and so I visit the two wards she attends on and off. At those wards I try to be as helpful as I can to the members whether they need a table moved or someone is needed to pass out supplies for a class. I enjoy exercising my priesthood duties and responsibilities to help those around me wherever I may be.
