Hi I'm Jessie

I'm a full time student studying engineering who also loves family, nature, music and adventure.

About Me

I am in my 3rd year of college, and I am loving it! I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to learn what ever I want, in the college of my choosing. College is not easy, and there are times that I want to give up, but knowing that education is essential to my Heavenly Father's plan, I always say I'll go on for one more day. And, in that one day, I always see His hand in my life and decide to keep going. I know that I cannot do anything without Heavenly Father's help. One of my hobbies is music. I started playing piano when I was in 3rd grade, and I have kept up with music since then. I picked up clarinet in 5th grade, flute in 6th, mallet percussion in 7th, bass clarinet in 8th, and oboe when I was a senior. I loved playing all these instruments, and I am no prodigy, but I still keep up the ones I own. I actually taught myself the oboe, and that was really hard! But, I just kept practicing and practicing and was able to do a solo in my final concert. I love being able to share my talents with others. Music is a great way to connect with everyone! I also paint. I paint quotes on my bedrooms walls, and little ceramics with my family. The last quote I painted was from President Thomas S. Monson - Seek heavenly guidance one day at a time. Life by the yard is hard; by the inch it's a cinch! This quote reminds me to take life one thing at a time, and to enjoy it! We are suppose to be happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my life has been made better because of it. I was raised in the church, but when I was 15 I decided for myself that I was going to continue to believe for myself. I felt Heavenly Father's love so strong there was no way that this church was not true. Since that day, I have been able to find joy in every aspect of life. No matter what is going on, you can always find one tender mercy from Heavenly Father, and a reason to smile. I know that Heavenly Father knows who I am and that He does help me in my life. He cares about me and wants me to find success and happiness in this life. I know that Jesus Christ is my not only my Savior, but my brother. He has made it possible for me to return to live with Heavenly Father if I live righteously today. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, and that he reorganized [not founded] the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the only true church upon the earth today. I know that he was a prophet of God, and that President Thomas S. Monson is our living prophet today. President Monson leads and guides the church today. I know that families are forever, and I also know that prayer is powerful. Prayer is our life line to Heavenly Father, and He does listen and answer all prayers. It does take a while sometimes for the answers to come, and they aren't always the answer we want, but they do come. I know that the priesthood is God's power upon the earth today. I am so grateful for the church in my life, and how it has helped me become the person I am today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday of my life. I help with the music in my church. I conduct the music for sacrament [a meeting similar to mass], play the piano for the primary children [similar to Junior Sunday School], and I directed the Ward Choir. I also go visit two wonderful ladies that I go to church with, share a quick message about the gospel with them, and then help them in any way I can. I read my scriptures everyday, and write in a journal what I learned. I set an example for those around me by dressing modestly, using good language, and answering any questions my friends have about the gospel.
