Hi I'm Gideon Miles

I've grown up in Pennsylvania, I build robots, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student. I am by no means the top of my class but i enjoy and love learning. Like many of the youth of my faith i have found a real passion for something and that thing is robotics. I build robots. Not many people can say that they do that. But i can, it took me a while to find something that i loved, everyone around me was playing all star sports, singing in top choirs or preforming in top notch marching bands. I tried all these activities but just didn't really get into any of them. However finally this round peg found its round hole and i was able to join my local FRC robotics team. Now we're in mid season, and I can remember a time when I've ever cared more about anything outside of my faith. It's a wonderful thing to be apart of something bigger than myself and i love every minute of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I was born into it. I once was with a group of friends and someone did ask me, "why are you Mormon?" before I had a chance to respond an acquaintance of my jumped in and blurted out, "because his parents are." I was rather taken aback that someone would so abruptly answer a question only I could answer. While it is true that I was introduced to the church because of the fact that my parents are members it is not true that I am only a member because my garnets are. I have received a firm witness that this church is the restored church of god on the earth today. That I am a son of god and that no thing will stop this great work of the gospel except the hand of god himself, which will not stop his work until it is done. And his work is to bring to past the immortality and eternal life of man. I am Mormon not because I am born into it but because I live it and I live it because I know it to be true. Critics may say that I haven't had an opportunity to "choose for myself" but they would be mistaken, one of the cornerstones of my faith is the freedom of choice and I stand by that. Back to my original story, in that situation I never did correct my friend, nor did I at that point explain to her why I really was Mormon because at that time I didn't truly know what I believed, but I can say know that I do know this church is true and if I had the opportunity I would go back and bear my witness to them that I know this church is of god and that Jesus is my personal savior and that he loves me and I him. I know this to be true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily. How do i do this? Everyday I wake up and 5:30 to attend an early morning seminary class that is held in my home. Then after seminary is over i try to read my scriptures for several minutes before leaving to go to school. At school living my faith isn't easy. It seems at every turn there's someone ready to and often times attempting to bring down and belittle others. I try to live my faith by being the one who is willing to reach out and uplift another. It's not always easy being the odd one out but it is always worth it. To be the one who stood out and defend anyone and everyone no matter who they are or what they have done. That's my school life, but out of that I also try to be anxiously engaged in good works and industrious in all that I do. In my church I am the first assistant to the bishop(the local minister of our congregation) and it is my responsibility to counsel with the other youth my age and to help the bishop in anyway that i can. One of the largest ways that I plan on living my faith beyond my daily activities is severing a full time two year prosoaliting mission for my church, I am at the time of writing this just about a year away from submitting my papers to go on a mission however I am preparing now to go on that mission and have been since i was a small child, i might even say since i was born. I am doing this by living my faith, attending weekly church meetings and youth activities, faithfully serving in the callings that I have been given, and trying daily to come closer to the Savior. The only way that I know of to come close to the savior is to live like him and follow his example. I treat everyone as he would treat them i try to see everyone as he would with love and compassion. I try to see them Not as they are now, but as they may become each being a son or daughter of heavenly father. So in short i live my faith the only way that i know how, with all the energy of my heart and with love.
