Hi I'm Alison

I'm a Mormon. I am a mother of 5 children and I am a teacher. I love music.

About Me

I have been married for 30 years and have 5 wonderful children. I went to university and got my teaching degree, then taught for a couple of years before having my children. I was a stay at home mum for many years as my children grew up and loved it. I returned to teaching after my youngest child was at full time school and I am now studying for a masters degree. I love my job! I also love music and have enjoyed being in orchestras and choirs. I love to read too!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 2 years old. So I was brought up with the church teachings in my life, attending church every Sunday and at other times during the week with my family. As a teenager I had to decide for myself what I was going to do with the rest of my life - if I was going to carry on going to church I needed to know for myself that it was what I wanted to do - I could no longer go just because my parents were going. So I got on my knees one summer evening and really asked Heavenly Father whether the teachings of the church were true. I received an answer for myself from God that made me feel warm and comfortable. It's hard to explain the sensation but it felt good! I knew that summer evening that the Church contained the true teachings of Jesus Christ and that whatever happened I could not deny what I felt. From that day on I have committed myself to living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am not perfect but I know that the teachings of the gospel have and are helping me with my everyday choices. My family is very important to me and gospel teachings have helped me to be a better wife and mother. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was especially comforted when my dad died when I was 18. Knowing that life is forever and that God has as plan and that I will see my dad again one day has blessed me tremendously.

How I live my faith

I love to be busy and doing things and I love to help out at church. For many years I worked with the youth aged 12 - 18 teaching them and organising activities for them. At the moment I am working with the children teaching them every Sunday at church and also again helping to organise activities during the week. Recently we've had activities about eating healthily, creating fab lego structures and the real meaning of Easter. I conduct the choir and we have just been learning some songs from the shows. It's hard work but I love it! We have people aged 12 to about 80 singing together - it's wonderful.
