Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm half Finnish. Music is in my soul. Singing is my hobby. Psychology is in my nature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I LOVE playing music! In high school, I bought a guitar, and started learning how to play. I joined a band in which I was the singer (and used that to channel my energy for music). Throughout high school, music and other performing arts gave me something to be passionate about in school. I absolutely loved to prepare a musical number, or a show, and then perform it in front of hundreds of people! That was such a rush of excitement and adrenaline! When my family lived in Finland for a year after I graduated high school, I got to go to a music school there, and keep working on writing and playing music. I auditioned for Finland's "X-Factor" and made it to the top ten in my group, and was unfortunately dropped right before the live performances. NOOO!!! I wanted to perform!!! But, in the end, it was all for the best. I got to prepare for a mission, and eventually got called to serve in the Finland mission for the church. It was a FANTASTIC experience! I loved serving God and His children in Finland! You think an adrenaline rush is cool? Try the feeling that comes when you're helping others come closer to Christ! It's the best feeling, because it's the divine- most commonly referred to as feeling the "Spirit," or the "Holy Ghost." I'm also absolutely fascinated with psychology, and the way people's minds work. I am so convinced of the strong connection between our brain and our spirit. I love talking about it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I love God! I'm a mormon because I love the Book of Mormon, and know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I feel such strong respect for that man in bringing about the incredible things that he did. Through his example, and the Book of Mormon, I have gained an undeniable witness that Jesus Christ is my Savior. This brings light to every aspect of my life, and hope in times when I would otherwise give up, or collapse. I'm a mormon because I love clean fun, and being a mormon is one of the cleanest, funnest things you'll ever do!

How I live my faith

I recently returned home from serving a mission. The mission was wonderful. It was somehow easy (perhaps moreso in retrospect): my life was very structured, and simple, and I was always on the move- helping person after person to come closer to Christ and to feel the love of God more powerfully in their lives. Now in church, I've been called to be a ward missionary- basically helping the missionaries out as much as I can. I also get the chance to teach one of the sunday school classes, which is way fun! I love leading discussions, and focusing a whole groups attention on things of an eternal nature. I think discussion between close friends about important, eternal concepts, is important in bringing those things to the forefront of our thoughts and feelings. Good friends, and quiet time, help us to reflect on what's most important in life. Music helps me to focus my thoughts on God as well. Music has such a powerful impact on our thoughts and feelings, and can easily draw us closer, or further away from God, in only a matter of seconds really! When I was bigger into song-writing, I noticed that most of the songs that I wrote very directly symbolized my connection to God, and the ever-present fact that without God, there is nothing else. I didn't realize that I was trying to do that, but I suppose the artwork of each individual reflects what is on their heart and mind. Being a mormon is truly all about living my beliefs. I love the fact that every moment I'm a mormon, and that every choice I make, reflects my inner commitment to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I wish I were perfect now, but don't we all?! I'm working on it, and that's what is important!
