Hi I'm Nathan

I'm newly married, and just started my career in the water industry in North Wales and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 25. I have been happily married since November 2010 to my best friend. I've come from a family of Mormons, consisting of a loving Mum and Dad and six boys were I am the fifth. I have joined still finished my final year of university studying Marine Geoscience and have started a new job within the water industry in North Wales. I am a big fan of music and particularly love rock music. I enjoy reading, attempting to learn the bass guitar, driving and playing computer games. But my favourite pass time is spending time with my family. I love visiting my brothers with their growing families and my parents.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church within a very happy and loving family and had nothing back to positive experiences. But there came a time in my teens where I had to decide whether this was something I personally believed. There was pressure from people at school to engage in activities which weren't compatible with my faith. I decided that I wouldn't pretend to live a religious lifestyle if I didn't believe it was true. So I decided that I really needed to know for myself. I started to read the Book of Mormon more in depth and pray more sincerely. My parents always taught that we should find our own answers. I asked God if he was really there, did Jesus Christ really suffer for our sins? Is there life after death? Can I be with my family forever? Is there a plan for me? I asked whether the Book of Mormon was true. There wasn't one single moment of clarity but rather many small events that confirmed the truthfulness of the Mormon church. These events helped me realise that there is a God, that Christ is his son. That families can be together forever, that the Book of Mormon is true scripture. I knew these things independent of anyone else and it brought so much happiness to me! My good relationship with my family grew stronger, I got more confident about myself, I felt like I was worthwhile and important to somebody. I knew that God knew who I was and cared about what I did with my life. Eventually I met my wife through the church, and we are now happily married for time and all eternity. Our shared beliefs help us resolve disagreements and grow closer together. My love for my parents and my brothers brings so much joy to my life. I am so thankful that I have this in my life and all the best things that have happened to me have a direct link to the church.

How I live my faith

I help run a young men's organisation aimed for boys aged 12 to 18. We meet twice a week, Tuesday evenings we have a quite varied activities including sports, educational evenings, laser tag, cooking and service projects, with the hope that we will provide young men an opportunity to meet and spend time with others with similar standards and engage them in wholesome activities that will be beneficial to them. Sunday morning we have group discussions about our beliefs where the young men can express personal beliefs or ask questions without fear of being ridiculed. It is a wonderful opportunity that I am grateful to be a part of and I feel I learn a lot about our church from their examples. I also visit with my friend other families around Plymouth within our church, share a brief spiritual thought, get to know them, and also inquire whether they need help in any way.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

This principle is the single thing that means the most to me, the fact that families can be eternal. Yes, eternal marriage and eternal families are possible thanks to the Saviour's Atonement and covenants that can be entered into in the temple. This great news means that family relations do not end at death, but rather if we but try our best, that all the joy that family and marriage can bring will continue through all eternally! This shows how important family is in this life and how family should be our top priority! Show more Show less
