Hi I'm Tom

I run Nerf parties, community Nerf events and a Nerf YouTube channel. I'm a husband, father, teacher, Nerfer... and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been a lifeguard, ski instructor, PE teacher and I spent two years in Germany, Berlin, on a voluntary service as a Latter Day Saint missionary. I now ply my trade as a teacher in Bradford, West Yorkshire, I own a successful Nerf Party business, which provides mobile Nerf wars for parties and events in Yorkshire and its neighbouring counties, and I run a growing Nerf YouTube channel. When I'm not annoying my longsuffering wife by filling our home with Nerf and uploading it for the world to raise an eyebrow at, I love spending time with her, reading to and playing with my little girl and cuddling my littler boy. I also have a calling as Young Men's leader in my local church ward and enjoy activities such as wide games, YouTube tutorials, cooking challenges and much, much more. I also love learning anything, playing basketbal, doing anything active and spending time outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I get a kick out doing stuff, and I've done a lot of fun stuff. I've owned and ridden fast motorbikes. I've skied in the Alps. I've lived by the sea. I've become fluent in another language. I've danced Beyonce's single ladies dance in front of a few hundred people... all of that's fun. But the thing that brings me the most satisfaction and fulfillment is being with people I love and contributing to other peoples' lives. There's a feeling you get when you're caring for someone outside of yourself. It's a "this is right" feeling. I get that feeling not only when I serve, but also when I go to church and when I do anything which brings me closer to God, my Heavenly Father. That feeling is the Holy Spirit telling me I'm doing something good, and that I'm on track. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and wants me to be happy. He talks to me about anything and helps me with the little things in life, as well as the more significant. I know that anyone who is prepared to try living how Heavenly Father guides us to through the scriptures and prophets, both modern and ancient, will also find out that He loves them and wants them to be happier than we can imagine.

How I live my faith

The busier life gets, the more complicated it gets to truly live my faith! I live my faith right now by being a husband, father and parent first, and making sure all the other cool stuff I'm involved in doesn't happen at the expense of what matters most. In fact, I try to find ways to make sure that everything else I do contributes to my most important roles in some way, as well as helping me to become the person I think Heavenly Father knows I ca be.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

The Bible is the word of God, as far as it's translated correctly. God spoke to prophets in the Middle East and told them to tell people what they had to do to be happy. These prophets kept records of the people they were responsible for, what they did, what they taught and the consequences of the actions of the people. It's also an account of the life of Jesus Christ and what he did among the Jews. Mormons believe the bible because it testifies of Jesus Christ and what he did to help us return to Heavenly Father after this life. The old testament testifies of Christ through it's account of the law the Jew followed, designed to point them towards and prepare them for their Savior. The new testament testifies that he lived and died and atoned for our sins. It also shows us how he established his church. Show more Show less
