Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a mother of five. A grandmother of one. I love to serve others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy mom of five children. I enjoying taking care of my children and my home. I love to spend time with my family doing ordinary things. I love to read and I love to visit new places. I graduated from college with a degree in Elementary Education. As a result of my degree I've always loved to teach others. I'm happiest when I am busy taking care of my family or helping others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so happy to be a Mormon! My parents were raised Mormon and so were me and my siblings. I've been a member my whole life -- but that didn't mean I always knew that the church was true. I had to spend time reading the scriptures, praying and studying the gospel before I was able to know on my own that the church was true and where I wanted to be. I remember a specific example of learning that my Heavenly Father knows and loves me. I was a young mother with 3 young children at home. I was feeling overwhelmed by the demands of mothering 3 busy children. I was beginning to feel like I wasn't known to my Heavenly Father and that I was on my own. I remember praying one night and asking Heavenly Father if He knew me. I had an overwhelming feeling that not only did he know me but that he loved me and was helping me in every aspect of my life. I am always happiest when I am trying my best to keep the commandments. I love this church and I know that it is the truth. I'm so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knows and loves me. I'm grateful for my Savior -- for the Atonement he freely gave for me. I'm so grateful to be a Mormon! The gospel is my life and it strengthens me in all that I do.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day. I try to spend a few minutes each day in prayer and scripture study. It is a great help to my day to start off thinking about spiritual things. I have a few opportunties to serve each Sunday in my church. I play the organ for our main meeting each week and I teach Sunday School to the 16 year olds. Teaching the 16 year olds has been a great experience. It is exciting to see them learn new things and understand more about the scriptures and the teachings of our Savior. I also have a fun opportunity to organize a Girl's Camp for all the young women in our church between the ages of 12 and 18. We spend a week camping, learning new skills and enjoying nature. It is a great week!
