Hi I'm Daniel Schumacher

I grew up in Utah. I enjoy almost all sports and physical activity. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to keep myself very busy. I am currently working in an icecream store which is not normal for me. I used to work at a mortuary washing their funeral vehicles and doing whatever other odd jobs they ask of me. I'm waiting to head out on my spanish speaking mission to Peru. Patience is not my strongest virtue so this long wait is quite a test. I've been playing sports since I could walk. When I was little I loved baseball and played as much as I could. I also loved basketball and still do, but I'm not as talented there. I played football and wrestled in high school but my true love is rugby. I was lucky enough to go to a school where rugby has become very popular. We had great coaches and great kids that I got to enjoy playing this game with. I have had the opportunity to also play at the National Championships and at the college level which has been awesome. I hope I can continue to improve and play more when I get back from my mission. To play rugby professionally would be a dream come true. I also love outdoor activities. Rock climbing was a large interest for a while, but I don't as often anymore. I still love to hike and I go wakeboarding at the lake any chance I get.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a member of the LDS church. I know that it is the best thing for me. The gospel has influenced my whole life. Nothing real special and exciting has happened to me, but I've witnessed miracles in my life. I know that when I keep God's commandments I am blessed. I've received so many blessings that I know are the consequence of doing what is right. The power of the Atonement is real and it is strong. It has brought me great joy in my life to know that I can be forgiven for my mistakes and to know that I can live with my family forever and I can have eternal happiness. I know that God loves me and wants to see me again and that is great motivation to do what is right. The teachings of the LDS church guide and direct my life exactly where I want it to go.

How I live my faith

I try to be very active in my church and community. Our young men do service as a group at least once a month and I try to participate in that as often as possible. I hometeach 3 different families with my dad and getting to know each of them has been very cool. I also get to help bless and administer the sacrament on sundays and I have learned to love that. Using God's priesthood and learning that authority is quite a blessing. Probably the biggest example of how I live my faith is preparing to serve a full-time 2 year mission. I get to teach the gospel to those who haven't heard that. In preparation I study my scriptures often, especially the Book of Mormon. Currently I'm a ward missionary and so far I have joined the missionaries serving in my area to teach discussions to investigators. That has been a great experience. The missionaries have such a strong spirit with them and they teach with power.
