Hi I'm Jeff

I grew up in New Jersey (USA). I am a research fellow at a London university and proud husband and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

At work, I am a research fellow at a veterinary college. This job is my first position after completing my PhD in Mechanical Engineering and I enjoy being able to contribute to the veterinary and welfare research that occurs at the college. My work provides me with many opportunities to question the "status quo" in areas of animal locomotion and welfare in order to understand how to improve different animals quality of life. I enjoy working around a diverse group of people, with many different backgrounds and talents. At home, I am a father of three energetic children, all under the age of five. They provide my wife and I lots of wonderful and challenging experiences. We all love to go exploring on holidays and we have taken advantage of our time in the United Kingdom to see parts of Wales, Scotland and England. I am a self-proclaimed outdoors enthusiast; I love gardening, hiking, camping and "communing with nature". My wife also says that I am a sports fanatic (which is true). I love playing most any sport but especially enjoy playing volleyball, football (soccer) and basketball. Although I don't have much time to watch games any more, I still take every opportunity I can to support my teams.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a youth I had many opportunities to question my faith, as I was one of only a handful of members in my school. As such, I was always asked questions about my beliefs and I found it important for me to know for myself that my differences from those around me were because that is what God wanted for me. These challenges to my belief provided me with ample opportunities to find out for myself that God existed, the Book of Mormon was written by prophets of God like the Bible and the Jesus is the Christ and my Saviour. I have always had a deep faith in the existence of God and as I look back on my life I can see His hand in it, during both the happy and the sad times. I know that I can turn to Him and our Saviour when things get difficult, through personal prayer, and receive divine strength to overcome challenges in my life. I also know through prayer and study that the Book of Mormon is truly scripture, written by ancient prophets for us today to teach us about God's plan for us and the importance of Jesus Christ in that plan. As I continue to work towards emulating my Saviour, I can feel the Holy Spirit in my life, which helps my faith to grow.

How I live my faith

As a young man, I served a mission in Mexico, which provide me many opportunities to experience the joy that comes through helping others come unto our Saviour, Jesus Christ. I now serve as a counsellor to the bishop of our congregation, assisting him in any way that I can. As part of my service I have opportunities to interact with other members of the congregation through teaching, visits and activities. I love that I can spend this time talking with other members about there experiences and I know that I am serving my Saviour Jesus Christ by trying to do my best in helping others. One of the greatest personal benefits of my service is that I get to be spiritually strengthened through my interactions with other members of the congregation, and I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me to see His work be carried out through the service of many others.
