Hi I'm Duane McNamee

I grew up in Southern California. I worked in software development. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a Grandpa. Nothing makes me happier than to see one of my children, or grandchildren, doing the right thing. I made a living by doing software development and then as a school bus driver. I like to read, hike, and eat, not necessarily in that order.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child I went to the Catholic church on Easter and Christmas with my Grandmother. As a teenager I started pondering about God, churches, and what they meant to me. In High School all my close friends were LDS and after we graduated they left on missions. I was asked by a return missionary sister if I wanted to know more. After studying and pondering I was getting nowhere. A missionary convinced me that I was not sincerely praying about it - that I needed to ask God if the Book of Mormon was true. I really really wanted to know. I prayed and got an undeniable answer that the Church is true, that God lives.

How I live my faith

On September 2, 2013 my wife and I enter the MTC in Provo, UT to start our 23 month mission to the New Zealand Wellington Mission as records preservation missionaries. I'm not sure why it is 23 and not 24 months for seniors but we are excited to go. We have been planning and working towards going on a mission for years. Serving others always makes one happy in the long run so each of my many callings let me think about others and be happy.
