Hi I'm Blaine

I was born and raised in Hillspring, Alberta. I have a passion for family and my heritage. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Love for family was instilled in me by my mother. My dad was killed in WW2 at Ortona, Italy, so my brother and I became her chief priority. Fortunately, we had wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins that included us as their own. I have compiled a lot of family history information and over the past three years, written two books identifying the legacy of my parents and grandparents. I grew up wanting to be an educator and was able to do that for 35 years. Since retiring, my wife, Sheila and I travel, camp (roughing it in our 5th wheel), golf, and now are looking forward to serving a mission at the Mormon Handcart Historic Sites.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, principally because my mother taught me gospel principles on her knee. I grew up enjoying going to Church and when I had my own family, I wanted to have my children have that same feeling. I have had the opportunity to feel the Spirit and testify to me of the truthfulness of things I have read and heard. I am a Mormon because of the importance of families. I love my children and grandchildren, and now even great grandchildren, so much, and the knowledge that I have of eternal families gives me an undeniable testimony of it's truths.

How I live my faith

My priorities in living my faith are to attend all my meetings each week, regular scripture study and daily prayers. Attending the temple has been a particular blessing as I have been able to research and submit many of my ancestor's names for ordinance work. The highlight of that research was in working in consort with my cousin to finally discover documented evidence of our great grandfather's parentage.
