Hi I'm Peter

Born in Scotland, living in Northern Ireland I am a Husband, Father, Sales Manager, keen Cook and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I joined the Church over 20 years ago when I knew I could no longer ignore the feelings in my heart any longer. All I have read all I have heard from our leaders and all good people in the church has re-enforced my own Testimony as to the truthfulness of the Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

When I came to Northern Ireland and started dating my wife I was curious to know what she believed as a member of the Church. I decided to attend with her the local Ward meeting and listen to what was being said. I was impressed by the fact there was no paid ministry, how knowledgeable everyone seemed to be and how happy each one was. I continued to go along and attend some of the activities and always had a good time. I took some discussions from the full time missionaries but didnt want to change my lifestyle at that point. Some time later I took more lessons and knew at then I was ready to join the church, change my lifestyle for good and serve God. That doesn't, for one minute mean I am perfect, it does mean I try everyday to better than the previous day.

How I live my faith

In my time in the Church I have served in several leadership and councillor positions assisting in the running of the local Ward, on the Activities Committee, in Sunday School ,in Young Men, and as a Home Teacher. Its not a Church for a Sunday it really is a lifestyle Church 7 days a week, Its great!

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. These prophets knew about Heavenly Father’s plan for His children and the mission of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible. The Book of Mormon concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4). Having read the Book of Mormon it was this challenge and promise that was answered for me personally that convinced me the Church was indeed true and ultimately why I am a Mormon. Show more Show less
