Hi I'm Mackenzie

I love singing and laughing. I love Disney. But most of all, I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a missionary in the Portugal Lisbon mission. I love to sing, paint, draw, anything to do with the arts and music. I love Spanish and Portuguese and learning about other cultures. I have two older sisters and one younger who are my best friends! I am also very close to my two little brothers! My parents are my most reliable source of comfort, strength and wisdom. My family and I are big Disney fans and I especially love the princesses. I love helping other people, especially just listening and giving my opinion and any advice I can. I love the sunshine! One of my favorite things to do is learn. Laughing is also a fond hobby of mine. Most importantly, the gospel of Jesus Christ is a focus in my life. It brings me more joy than anything else and allows me to find meaning in this life. Even with I am going through difficulties or feel alone, I can feel peace because I know that God is aware of me. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me this peace.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me joy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was restored by a prophet of God, Joseph Smith. Heavenly Father prepared the earth to receive his restored gospel at the right time and I know that Joseph Smith was an inspired man. The power of the priesthood was restored with the gospel and the power that comes from that is amazing. I have seen many blessings come from having the priesthood a prominent part of my life. I am a Mormon because I can make covenants with the Lord that will bring me back to His presence. Those covenants I make through baptism and in the temple make me worthy to have the Holy Ghost with me each day. His companionship helps me to make righteous decisions that bring me true happiness. Through the blessings of the temple, I am able to be with my family forever. I am a Mormon because it provides me with so many opportunities to serve. Because of my knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan for me that I have learned through this church, I am motivated to help those around me. I am a Mormon because I have the opportunity to attend church every Sunday to learn more about God, His Son, the Holy Ghost and their plan for us. That plan brings us joy when we follow it. I am a Mormon because being a Mormon helps me follow that plan. I am a Mormon because it brings me joy.

How I live my faith

Living my faith brings me so much joy! I live my faith by trying to see others as God sees them. This allows me to love others as they are and also see them as who they can become. I live my faith by reading my scriptures daily and praying to my Father in heaven. He is my best friend and I strengthen my relationship with him through prayer multiple times throughout the day. I live my faith by leaving the theatre when a movie isn't in line with the Lord's standard, by dressing modestly, by serving those around me, by developing my talents, by doing all I can to become more like Jesus Christ and by dedicating all my time to activities that will please the Lord. As I attend church each Sunday, I am able to live my faith with more boldness as I learn to be more Christlike from talks and classes and I worship my Lord through song and prayer. I live my faith daily as I recognize the attributes and actions that are a part of my life and repent of these things as I change my heart.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temple is a sacred place, dedicated to the Lord. Only members of the church who are old enough and are worthy to hold a recommend can enter because of the sacredness of the building. There is a level of worthiness that each of us must reach in order to be worthy to be in the presence of the Lord. As we each make baptismal covenants, keep the commandments and live a righteous life, we reach that worthiness and have the opportunity to enter into the temples. This opportunity is not a secret practice, but rather so sacred that it cannot be shared with the world. It is something that the Lord wants to preserve and keep untouched from the evils of the world. Because of this, the temple only allows certain, worthy members to enter in. Within the temple, work is done for people who have passed on without the opportunity to make covenants with the Lord. The members act as proxies and fill in for these deceased people. They stand in place of the dead person in order to perform ordinances such as baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost or getting sealed together as a family. Because these people have passed on and no longer have a body, they cannot perform these ordinances for themselves though their spirits are still alive. The work done in the temple gives these people who have passed on the opportunity to partake of the gospel even though they no longer have a body. Show more Show less
