Hi I'm Ryan

I am an American-Canadian. I hope one day to positively change the world and have a family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary for the LDS church. The road that lead me to where I am now is long and winding and really makes me who I am today. I was born in New Mexico and lived there until I was eleven and then one of my three sisters and my brother moved to Toronto Canada area. I grew up playing soccer and I still love to play. I also still love the hot, dry New Mexico desert but I have also grown to love the lush green forests of eastern Canada. Growing up, I was very interested in Science in school and even though i've never liked doing homework, I love to learn about the way that the world around me works and what it is made up of. The way science works is really the main reason why I am here today. The logic and reason of it has developed into how I think and how I live my life. It is because of this that I can say that I believe in God and the teachings of the people that he has sent to inform us of his love and will for us. It is this belief that has lead me through all of the uncertainty, pain and sorrow that i've experienced and it has given me a bright hope for the future, both in this life and the next.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for so many reasons. In a nutshell, I am a Mormon because years of reading in the Book of Mormon, going to church and testing the principles I was taught has proven to me, that they will make one happy. In life, all that we learn, hear and read is, for the most part the experience or observations of others. Some of it is false and a lot of it is true, and we trust, in particular, the things we learn at school because they are things that we can test and see for ourselves. For me, my faith is no different. All I really know is the experiences I have had and the things I have seen. I truely have seen that the words of the Bible and The Book of Mormon are consistent with the way that life is. I truly believe that anyone, regardless of race, nationality, or culture can see the profound happiness and joy that come from living the Principles contained in these books, and that is what makes it true. It is true because it applies to all aspects of life and to all people. As anyone begins to test this religion, and the Book of Mormon in particular, they will begin to see that it is true and right and good.

How I live my faith

In the Book of James, it describes true religion as serving others and "keeping [oneself] unspotted from the world". This is how I try every day, to live my faith; by doing things for other people and by trying to live by the words of the Prophets and the Savior, which words keep us safe from the evils of the world.
