Hi I'm James

Hi I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). I grew up on the Wirral in the UK.

About Me

Hi I grew up in the Wirral, My family were quite poor, so things were a struggle while growing up. while in school I played sports, and loved playing rugby for the school team, I also worked out in the weights gym and swimming. after school I worked my way through University gaining a degree in Geography and Sports Studies. I played darts for many years, and some people think I was quite good at it. While I was in University I got Married, then after University I joined the Royal Navy moving to Plymouth. Due to the life of a Royal Navy member, my marriage did not survive, so we ended up parting our ways. After leaving the navy I met the missionaries and eventually became a member of the church. After a few years of being out of the Navy, I went back to University to study for a Law degree. I am now currently trying to secure a position with a Legal firm. I am now living back in the Wirral and have developed some good friendships within the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon, thats really a hard question to answer. I did not grow up with much religious teaching, and my family did not have any real faith. But I was introduced to the Missionaries, and listened to their teachings, and read through the book of Mormon. I found that as I read the passages within the Book of Mormon, that the passages I read gave me an answer to the questions or problems I was facing at the time. This happened on each occassion that I read through the Book of Mormon, so I came to realise that there was something there, an element of real truth within the book. After a while I decided to be baptised into the church, and although I became less active for a while, I was drawn back to the church and have been active ever since. I find being a member of the church gives me a feeling of inner strength and peace, which helps me to live through the difficult times. The book of Mormon can answer so many different questions, and although it was written in a different time, it still has so much relevance to our lives today and guides us how to aspire to and live a better cleaner life.

How I live my faith

I am now teaching the Adult Sunday School classes, I am a ward missionary and help the full time missionaries to teach prospective new members of the church. I follow the word of wisdom, and try to be faithful to the teachings of the church as dictated within the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I home teach a number of families each month which I find enjoyable and they feel that they learn something as well. I always help out in the organisation of the church events, which i find quite enjoyable and fun to do.
