Hi I'm Stephanie

I grew up in Texas, USA. I have moved 11 times in my life. I have loved every place I have lived. I am a Mormon.

About Me

In university I focused on Child Development. This has been a tremendous help to me as I have raised my 4 children. I enjoy learning from their personalities and strengths. My children teach me more than I teach them sometimes. I enjoy record keeping such as journaling. I love history and if I ever have time to pursue more education I would like to study history. Besides the time I spend caring for my family, I spend time volunteering at my children's school, reading, exercising in a local park and working on projects such as quilting or sewing. I teach a daily bible study class for youth and I am continually amazed at their dedication and knowledge of the bible. The students daily examples help me to be a better person and encourage me to strive just a little harder each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I believe in God's plan of happiness. We are here on a journey to test our obedience, to learn, to grow and to become better each day. I believe God wants us to return to Him and to live out the eternities with Him and His Son, Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit testifies to me of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that I am not perfect but by living a faith focused life I can strive each day a little better. I am a daughter of God. I believe we are all children of God and we have divinity within each of us. God knows us each personally and we can develop a personal relationship with Him and the Savior. I know that Jesus Christ died for my sins and the sins of all those who have ever lived or will ever live on the earth. I live in awe of that daily, that He, a perfect being would lay down His life that I might live again. I believe when Jesus Christ lived on the earth He put in place His gospel, the same gospel that has been restored to the earth today. We have the Savior's prophets and apostles on the earth today just as He called prophets and apostles in His day. They are called to lead and guide us today just as they were after the Savior fulfilled His mission on the earth. We are precious to the Savior and that is why he has not left us alone. He wants us to return to Him with our families in place.

How I live my faith

As I interact with those around me I like to listen to their life stories. I have realized that although we often come from different countries, cultures and traditions, we are similar. I have found that when I am thinking too much about "me" and not focusing on others I am not as happy as I desire to be. When I turn that focus around and listen for ways I can serve others in my communities I am a much happier person. I enjoy volunteering at my children's school. This allows me time to meet other parents, see teachers interacting with students and parents and be a part of my children's community at school. I also love to get to know the students I teach daily in our bible study class. They are living their lives amidst trying times and I can always learn from their examples of diligence and hard-working attitudes. As I strive to teach a lesson each day that is worthy of having the spirit present my knowledge is increased right along with the student's knowledge. We grow together! I used to think preparing my lesson would just be something to check off my "to do list" but it has become much more than that. It is a time daily when I can meditate and contemplate the scriptures, the lessons we learn from prophets and apostles and how I can incorporate these lessons into my daily life. In our women's group at church I am responsible to watch over 6 other women in our congregation. I have developed friendships with these women. I enjoy seeing the joys in their lives and also being there to lend a hand when things are difficult. These friendships have made my personal life more meaningful and created bonds of sisterhood that cannot be replaced. I have found in life that often I think about what I can do for someone else when in reality, while I am serving, I am being blessed by those I serve.
