Hi I'm Nathan

I'm a son, a brother, a missionary, and a Mormon!

About Me

Hello! I just graduated high school in 2013, and left a few months later to serve as a missionary in the Philippines! My hobbies include playing basketball, playing/listening to music, theatre and the arts, and most definitely spending time with my family (including my favorite nieces and nephews!) I am currently serving a mission in the Colorado Ft. Collins mission, and am loving every day out here :D

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of Mormons, from a rich heritage of fathers and mothers, families who live what they believe. Though I was born into this church, I didn't always know it was true. Like everybody else, I had to decide for myself what was right and what was wrong, and what I believed in. And the only way I know how to do that is to take a leap of faith, try it out. So I started to read the scriptures, specifically the Book of Mormon. I prayed day and night. I started to serve others, and clean up my life. Over time, slowly but surely, I came to know by the power of the Holy Ghost, without question, that Jesus is the Christ-- and that He has restored His Church in our day, through a Prophet, Joseph Smith. I came to know by that same power that we have true and living Prophets and Apostles today that lead and guide Christ's Church, and that the central goal and focus of that Church is to teach and apply the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by which we are able to live with our families in eternity and find peace, joy, purpose, and forgiveness until that time comes. Forever with my family? Real peace? Forgiveness? These are more than just punch-lines, they're real. They mean everything to me, and I am forever grateful to be able to know and experience them.

How I live my faith

My faith is everything to me, because in every way, it strengthens and supports the people who are everything to me: my family! The best way I know of that I live my faith is through my relationships with my family. Applying the things I learn because of how I believe with those I love most-- that makes all the difference. At this particular time, I am serving as a full-time missionary in hopes of helping, serving, and uplifting others where I can, and inviting them to find the same happiness I have found through my faith.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Missionaries do what they do simply because... The gospel makes people happy! It makes me happy, and provides peace, direction, joy, and forgiveness in life. The Savior knew this as well, and commissioned His Apostles and others to spread the good news of His gospel, saying "Go ye therefore and teach all nations." (Matthew 28:19) The countless blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ are free! Man, it doesn't get any better than that. If something is that good, and that available for people to enjoy, why wouldn't you share it? I am serving as a missionary because I love people, and I love the Lord Jesus Christ. I have experienced the miracles of living a Gospel-centered, a Christ-centered life, and if I have the chance to share those blessings with someone else, it's a chance worth taking. It's kind of like when you're at a buffet, and you try something that's super tasty-- like, beyond belief tasty-- you're not going to keep it a secret, right? I know the first thing I'm going to say is man! That's really good! And then invite my family and buddies to try it out too. That's what missionaries do. They don't force feed you, or even charge you for the meal. What's the down side of giving it a try? It might be tasty :) In fact, I know its worth trying. Show more Show less
