Hi I'm Maria Smith

I love Pennsylvania, love being a missionary, and love laughing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the cute city of Centerville in Utah. I love finding moments in life that bring joy and laughter! I love doing pretty much anything with my family! I'm always up for whatever adventure we end up doing. I love anything outdoors, music, and the start to every season! I love the gospel of Jesus Christ; it is what brings joy to my life. I'm currently serving a mission in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and loving every moment :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. Even if I'm not a literal convert to this church, I am a spiritual convert. I had to read the Book of Mormon and ask Heavenly Father for myself if this was the true church. I didn't have a powerful spiritual feeling come over me the first time I asked.I was hoping for the process to be simple. I thought all I had to do was read the Book of Mormon, ask if it's true, and then I would know. But I'd forgotten the most important step. Asking myself if I desired to know, or if I was just asking because I'd been counseled to. I approached my Heavenly Father again. This time with a sincere heart, with a sincere desire to know.My answer came a little while later when I wasn't expecting it.I felt the love the Savior had for me and that this church is true.I am still strengthening my testimony and trying to do what's right. There are times I stumble, and at those times the sooner I come back to, and cling to the Savior for strength, the more I learn and make it through the hard times.I've learned for myself that Heavenly Father is always there for us with open arms.As soon as we let him into our lives He blesses, and upholds us.I know I don't have to be perfect to have His Spirit in my life, I know He is more than willing to forgive me when I come to Him with a humble heart, sincerely praying for forgiveness.I am a Mormon because I know this is the true church, that my Heavenly Father loves me, and that this church is the source of peace and everlasting joy.

How I live my faith

There are many ways I live my faith. Every day involves diligent prayer and scripture study. I'm learning that faith is an action. I show my faith as I act, which involves always being willing to follow God's plan, to change to become who I'm designed to be, and to put forth all my efforts to help others do the same. I strive to share this gospel with others so that they too can taste of the freedom, peace, understanding, and joy that comes from the gospel. Everyone is a loved child of God. His truths, His peace, His love, His direction are for everyone. I strive to share about the church, and, as a missionary, I teach others about the church and invite them to know for themselves that this is His church.

Who are the Mormons?

Maria Smith
The nickname 'Mormon' is given to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The members of this church, or "Mormons" believe in the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and Jesus' teachings in revelations given to modern-day Apostles and Prophets. The nickname of 'Mormon' comes from the belief in the Book of Mormon. (which is ancient scripture revealed to and recorded by prophets in the Americas during the same time the Bible was being written in the Old World.) Show more Show less
