Hi I'm Laura

I'm a sister, a BYU student, and a pianist. I'm currently serving as a missionary in Brisbane, Australia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I´m the second of eight kids, seven girls and one boy. I love Rubik´s Cubes, playing the piano, and running with the family dog. I´m a BYU student, a pianist, a daughter, a friend, and a missionary. I´m a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I didn't have incredible experiences like Joseph Smith or Alma the Younger to confirm the truthfulness of the gospel. My answers came as I studied the scriptures and obeyed the commandments and counsel of the Lord. They weren't remarkable, but they were real. Like Moroni says in the last chapter of the Book of Mormon, the Holy Ghost can help us to know of the truth of all things. That was manifest in the feelings of peace and love that I felt as I read and studied the words of scriptures, listened to the words of prophets, and exercised faith in the Savior and His love for me. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration, that he gave his life to furthering the work of the Lord. The Book of Mormon is true I know that the Lord answers our prayers, no matter how insignificant or trivial they may seem. When we don't receive an answer immediately, he's giving us the opportunity for growth. He's not ignoring us. He will never ignore us. He loves us too much to ignore us. Our trials, as difficult and impossible as they may seem, aren't given to us as punishment for a previous mistake. In Helaman 15:3, we read that the Lord chastens His people because He loves them. I know that's true. This life is not easy, and it never was intended to be so. But through the gospel, I can find comfort and peace when difficulties arise.

How I live my faith

While I was still in high school, I lived my faith by reading my scriptures, attending Seminary, and serving in the church as a youth leader. I absolutely loved the youth in the branch. As we attended school and other activities together, we became closer and closer to each other. After graduation, my roommate and I had the opportunity to begin teaching in the women´s organization of the church. We taught lessons about how to be better people, better women, and better disciples of Jesus Christ. I am currently preparing to serve a full-time mission in Australia, speaking Mandarin Chinese.

What do Mormons believe about family?

We believe that families can be together eternally. My family is more important to me than anything else on this earth. Through the sacred ordinances performed in temples, our families can be together forever. Death may temporarily separate us, but it's grasp won't last forever.
