Hi I'm Quentin

I'm the father of 4 wonderful children, married to my bride since 1992, manage a small consultancy & fond of sport - I'm a Mormon

About Me

Born in Zimbabwe, Southern Africa. At age 12 we immigrated to South Africa were we lived in and around Durban and Johannesburg. I immigrated to Swaziland at age 16 and finished school there at St. Marks School in Mbabane. After finishing school I moved to the United Kingdom where I met my wife to be. I live and worked Slough for a year while saving to sponsor myself on a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I put my relationship on hold during that time and served the Lord as a missionary in the England Bristol Mission. After finishing my mission I married my wife in St. Austell, Cornwall after which we moved back to Cape Town, South Africa where I did a BEng in Structural Engineering at the Cape Tecknikon in Cape Town. My wife and I moved back to the UK in 1998 with our then two children. We currently have four children and they are a great blessing in my life. I started my consultancy as a structural engineer in 2002 and I currently direct this practice. We specialize in the the design of timber frame homes - a form of construction that I became very interested in as a student. I enjoy getting involved within the local community and playing sports generally. My family and I love the out doors and getting away from the commercial centers. I have a motorcycle that I like to get out on to explore the amazing world God has provided for us to enjoy.

Why I am a Mormon

Truth - if you are a seeker after truth you will find it in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Real truth is discernible by the Spirit of God. We know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and King. Just before the Saviour was crucified, he introduced his apostles to the Holy Spirit of whom He said, 'he will teach you all things..'. That's why I am a Mormon, not because I know it all because I don't, but because of the sacred confirmations of comfort that I have received in my heart when studying the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith is the key to me trying to develop a Christlike character. The greatest opportunity and the best environment for us to develop these characteristics is in the home. My family are the single greatest blessing in my life. My faith is one of action. It is in the doing and the serving of others that we forget ourselves, and our own petty problems, and live lives of joy. In my church service I have spent many years working with the youth, 12 to 18 year old, and have often been inspired by their faith and commitment. All of my church life has provided me with opportunities to reach out and provide service to others. I have loved every opportunity to serve someone in need and I have always come away with the bigger reward. Rather than simply having faith and attending church every Sunday, I try and live the best life I can throughout the week, every week. God answers my prayers but never at my bedside - instead I often find the answers to problems at work and other aspects of my life while I am doing something. I always attempt to reflect my faith in my employment by being honest in all my dealings and ensuring that people know what I stand for.
