Hi I'm Zachary Holt

My greatest joy comes from serving others. I have a passion for studying health and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always been the type of kid who never truly fit in to the crowd, but now I don't want to. I've grown to love swimming and playing soccer with my friends. I will be studying at a college in Utah to prepare to go into medical school. I'm not sure what I'm going to do in the Medical field, possibly surgery or an infectious disease specialty, but I do know that I want to save lives. I've played the piano for most of my life, and I can attest that it takes practice! Practice is something that I was never good at growing up. I love hanging out with my friends and just being a goof-ball.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had a difficult life. Though I was born a into an LDS family, I have not always made good choices; no one is perfect. I endured many trials in my teenage years, and there were plenty of moments where I questioned whether or not God exists and if He loved me. It came to the point where I knew I had to choose what path I would walk in life, so I prayed about whether or not the Book of Mormon was true. The next year and a half of my life was spent searching for truth, and a love that I always felt had eluded me. I am glad to say that I found it with the love and support of my friends, family and church leaders. As I now serve a mission in New England, I get the privilege of helping others experience the same joy that I have experienced through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, my Redeemer. The Lord has testified to me by the power of the Holy Ghost of the truth of the Restored Gospel. Because of that, I know that the Priesthood Authority of God has been brought back to the Earth again. I know my Savior lives.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, currently serving in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. I love the Lord, and I love the opportunity that I have to serve Him now. Before my mission I took part in a volunteer program at a hospital in Idaho, where I spent nine years growing up. I served as a Junior Volunteer for three years, and for the last year I was the Vice President of the Junior Volunteer organization. I loved it, and I shall continue to give volunteer service when I return home. Whatever I do, I try to do it with a cheerful heart. I try to keep the "Light of Christ" with me so that others can feel of His goodness when I'm there and I can share some of the joy that He has given me with them.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Zachary Holt
There is nothing secret about the temple, but it's a very sacred place where baptized members of the church can go to receive special blessings and make sacred covenants with God. In order to go into the House of the Lord, we must prepare ourselves spiritually. We have to be worth to walk in His house, kind of in the same way that when we invite someone into their homes we ask them to take off their shoes if they are covered in mud. We also go there to learn more about God and what He asks of us, how we can come closer to Him and we seek our own personal revelation. Show more Show less
