Hi I'm Chao, Chien-An

I grew up in Taiwan. I graduated from senior high school. I love to play piano. Now, I'm going on my mission.I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I, Chao Chien-An, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my parents. I learned piano when I was eight. I just learned about two years, and I learned by myself. For me, music is most simple language. You can not just read it, but feel it. I was born in church ( Actually, I was born in hospital.). So I knew a lot about the church.

Why I am a Mormon

"Because we are the parents..., so I did not have any choice." which is very often the argument. But I know that parents will indeed give us some effect. We are still able to do our own. Because I know we are focused on the church "Agency", which is a power of God to all mankind that everyone can decide all things in their own life. And each person must be responsible for the decisions he or her has made. Others may be able to influence you to do the deciding factor. But you will go to "do" it means that you also agree. My mother often said: "The choice is up to you. You cannot call someone to help you make a decision. Then you want someone to help you take the consequences." So I know that I would choose this church. Because I see the gospel in my life and the impact it has on me. I’m very grateful that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I spent four years to decide be a missionary. I always said I will go on my mission when I was little. Until I went to EFY (Especially For Youth) that the activity church held. This activity will have fourteen to eighteen young teenagers spend three days together. They will have upgrade gospel knowledge and consolidate their testimony activity during this time. Each time, organizer will hope we can make promise that we go on a mission. When I prepare my mission, it did not go very well. I had Spontaneous pneumothorax, which is a lung problem. I got surgery twice and spent almost a year to recover from the second surgery. During this time, my mother wanted me not to go on my mission. However, I knew that when I decided to do Gods work, he will help me. So finally I got my mission call. Now I'm been Utica on my mission.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Chao, Chien-An
Personally, I have two points. First, I know that this gospel is true. So I want to let more people know the gospel. Go on a mission that you have opportunity can make contact with the world and to learn about different cultures around. And also you can know the impact of gospel on people other parts of the world. These valuable experiences are unable to use anything in return. Second, for the men, we have two-years to serve God. Which makes I think about tithing, which is a law that God given to ancient people, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”-Malachi 3:10 For me, life is God give to us. I just two dedicated to God years of my life. And God let me have this opportunity to preach the gospel in other places, While preaching I have many unexpected blessings keep coming. These are fulfilled just like the scripture said. I am pleased to be able to come out my mission. Show more Show less
