Hi I'm Jacqui

I'm from the Philippines. I love to travel and learn about different places and cultures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated as a German major and am very excited for the opportunities ahead! I am passionate about experiencing different cultures. I love reading books, team sports, and music. I enjoy playing the guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were the first people in my family who became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So I grew up in a home where the gospel of Jesus Christ has been taught and for that I am very grateful because as I grew older I could see the difference of my family to that of my friends of other faiths. We have a loving family relationship and a happy home. I love going home and spending time with my family, while I observed that most of those friends of mine didn't share those same feelings for their family. That's when I realized that the gospel that we have been taught in the Church and we live personally and in our family is the source of that happiness and peace in our home. That's how I've first realized how beautiful the teachings of the Church is. Later on my testimony that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ was strengthened as I continued to live the teachings of our Church leaders and then have seen how my life has been blessed because of that. Through my daily prayerful study of the Book of Mormon I feel close to my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I receive a special feeling everytime I read the Book of Mormon, and I know that it is the Holy Spirit testifying to me that what I have read is truly the word of God. Growing up in the Church I am very grateful for the strict standards that we have been taught to follow. Some people may think of them as restrictions but by abiding by those guidelines I have seen how it has blessed my life all these years. On the other hand, I have seen how those people around me, who live contrary to the commandments of Jesus Christ, have experienced tragic consequences. This is the true Church of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. We have a living prophet today who receives revelations from God and guides us through the challenges of our times. The only real way to know these things for oneself is to pray about it and put the teachings to the test by trying it out ourself.

How I live my faith

I teach Sunday School for the young single adults of our congregation. I really enjoy associating and learning with them so it's a real treat for me to be handling an additional weekday scripture study class with them plus other college age youth. It's an opportunity to make friends, who share the same beliefs and values. As an adult woman in the Church I also have the responsibility to visit regularly other women of our congregation in their homes. I love doing that because I get to make friends with other women in the Church from whom I can learn from. It is also an opportunity for me to serve them when need arises and also to strengthen one another as I may share a spiritual message with those I visit.
