Hi I'm Sue Amos

I grew up in Hertfordshire, England but joined the LDS Church in Australia 33 years ago - I am a Mormon

About Me

I work for a local district council and have been married to my husband for 26 years. My special interests are travel, art, interior design, having friends over for dinner, computers, genealogy, gardening and bee keeping. My husband's hobbies are coarse fishing, classical music, astronomy and English history.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1980 at the age of 33, I was living in Sydney, Australia, and was beginning to think that I needed more spirituality in my life and began investigating various churches. I really did not find what I was looking for in any of the churches that I attended or faith groups. One evening, I prayed to God to ask him if there was a true church on the earth that he could call his own and I felt a wonderful feeling envelope me as though a pair of arms were embracing me. The very next day, two elders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knocked on my door and said that they were prompted to knock on my door. They taught me some gospel principles over the next few weeks and challenged me to read the Book of Mormon, which i did. I knew immediately that what they taught me was true and that the Book of Mormon was true and the word of God. I was baptised in March 1980 and then returned to England a year later. I visited Salt Lake City in 1981 and learnt more about the pioneers that made their way across the mid-west to the Salt Lake Valley. I met my husband in 1985 in the London Temple just as I was finishing my mission there and we were married in 1987. My life has been greatly blessed both temporally and spiritually in the years I have lived the gospel. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love each and every one of us and will lead us, with the help of the Holy Ghost, along this path that we are walking in our lives here on earth. I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, everyone of us can be forgiven of our sins through repentance and everyone of us will be resurrected and gain eternal life. I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith restored the gospel back on earth and that he translated the Book of Mormon and that it contains the record of a people who left Jerusalem and built a boat and sailed to America 600 years before Christ came to the earth. How my life has changed for the better since embracing the gospel!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good and caring person and trying to live the example that Jesus Christ gave to mankind. I serve in my local ward as a Sunday School Teacher in the women's organisation within the Church and also as a Genealogical Advisor. My husband serves as the Ward Mission Leader. We refrain from drinking alcohol, tea and coffee, and smoking tobacco as well as other addictive substances.
