Hi I'm Melissa

I love belly laughing. I love being a girl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am twenty five years old and am serving in the England London South Mission. When I was thirteen, my family and I moved to Angola. I love the people of West Africa. It amazed me that they could have so little, yet be the happiest, most loving people. They taught me to appreciate the things that matter the most in life. I'm learning to find joy in the simple things that life has to offer. I love dancing. Before my mission I taught and choreographed for a ballet school. I've never been happier than when I am surrounded by a dozen, perfectly happy six year olds in tutus. Simple things make me happy - sunny days exploring the outdoors, haircuts, watching old musicals with my grandmother, spontaneous road trips with my sisters, belly laughing, heart to hearts with my mother, feeling like I belong somewhere, making a new friend, learning a new skill... I love learning. A few recent interests have been anatomy and physiology, cadaver dissection and political philosophy. If it were possible, I would go to school forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it is a happy way to live. I am blessed when I live the teachings of the church. The peace that I feel when I participate in the Church is something that I value very much. I love lots of things in my life, hobbies, interests, opportunities... but nothing brings me more satisfaction than to know that I'm living the life that God would have me live, that I am becoming what He intends for me to be. I love to feel God's love for me. He helps me understand myself. He teaches me what I need to know to learn, grow, improve and change. I love to repent and feel God's mercy. That feeling keeps me close to the Church. There is no other activity, or organization that brings me greater peace, or allows me to feel so close to my Heavenly Father than the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by seeking opportunities to serve. I love the Church because it is designed in a way that provides everyone with the opportunity to serve, regardless of our age, circumstances, talents or abilities. I don't feel like I have any particular skill at teaching or leading, but the Church provides opportunities for me to develop these abilities, and especially the ability to love others. Growing to love others that I serve gives me joy that can't be matched. That feeling keeps bringing me back to church, looking for opportunities to be involved and to serve. The things that I learn from serving in the Church bless my family in many ways. It helps me to be a more loving sister and daughter within my own family.
