Hi I'm Ana Carone

I am from Brasil. I go to BYU-Hawaii. I served a mission in Boston Massachusetts Mission and loved it .I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a math major but I have many interest such as singing, playing piano and ukulele, and mostly drawing! I love to watch korean dramas and try to learn the language from them, I love living so close to the temple, so close that takes 5 minutes by walking. I love the university that I study at.I love diversity of cultures. I have 3 younger brothers preparing to go on a mission. I have two amazing parents that are so nice to me and taught me well in the gospel. And I love working as a tour guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center and being able to be a missionary there; sharing my testimony to my guests and serving them the best that I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Actually my parents joined the church in 1997. I always agreed to go to church. One day, when I was 8,I started to question myself why do I go to church since my friends would always go to a different church and we couldn't go to church all together. I decided to ask my parents after a family evening meeting. I asked " How do you know the Book of Mormon is true? Have you seen the golden plates that Joseph Smith translated it from? Did you see God and Jesus Christ like Joseph Smith?" They told me that they didn't see the golden plates or knew Joseph Smith personally or had seed God and Jesus Christ. So I was confused. They told me to read the Book of Mormon. It didn't need to be the entire book. They read Moroni 10:4-5 to me and told me if I pray to God asking if the Book of Mormon, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, God would answer my prayer. I decided to do at that very same night. I knelt by my bed and read Moroni 10. Pondered about it. And prayed and I felt something inside of me. I felt like someone was hugging me and it felt so warm, but nobody was there physically. I never felt so happy like that. Only in my mission. I will never forget that answer ever. I feel that warm every time I read the Book of Mormon with real intent, go to church with my heart and mind, and go to the temple. I am a Mormon because God answered my prayer and a prayer of a 14-year-old boy.

How I live my faith

I'm a tour guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center and we meet people from all over the world. I think that is one of the ways that I can live my faith. At work is all about service. I love serving people! I think because I'm constantly serving the guests at work, they give me tips, but we are not allowed to accept them so I turn them in to customer service. My integrity is worth much more than what money can buy. God has been blessing me every time I am honest. Even at school, I don't mind helping my friends with their math homework even though I could be working at the math lab and be paid to help them. I love any service project! Also, I'm a secretary in the Relief Society (the Women's organization) and I'm responsible for attendance and to see if all the sisters are visiting one another. I also volunteer for 3 hours at the temple a week. I also attend it without going there to work. I think the best way to describe how I live my faith is SERVICE. My words can't tell much, bu look at my works and you will see how I live my faith.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Ana Carone
No. actually the church is more than willing to help everyone that needs help for the good. Mormons are always willing to help everyone in order to serve all children of God. They are willing to do what it's right and protect people's right. Most of the church donations are to non-members and to countries that are non-Christian. Mormons are always trying to help the society with service projects and more. Show more Show less

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Ana Carone
You can find members of the church throughout pretty much the whole world. The church is available in more than 100 different countries in more than 50 different languages in the website. Not only the members, but the missionaries are more than happy to help you to learn and understand the church and the gospel. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Ana Carone
There are no words to fully describe the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It was his ultimate sacrifice from the Gethsemane, sweating blood (something that is not even that possible, a normal human would die by sweating one drop of blood) by every pore, to the cross on Calvary being crucified on a unjust judgement by the Jews. It is the ultimate form of love that Christ has shown us. His sacrifice was necessary because without his sacrifice we would be stuck in our sins, we would have to feel the pain that he felt in the Gethsemane and since none of us can actually sweat blood, because our body can not even support that. Without the entire Atonement we would never be able to return to live with our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
