Hi I'm Shelby

I am a Daughter, an Aunt, a Twin, and a missionary. I love music and baking. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Washington State. I am grateful for the family that I have now, at young age my twin and I were adopted into our family we have now. My twin is truly my best friend. She is truly amazing and always inspires me and I love her with my whole heart. I love being with her and my family. Currently I am on a mission in San Diego, California. Going on a mission is something that I have always wanted to do, but I am happy each day that I decided to go. I am here on a mission to help others find the happiness and joy that I have found in life through this church.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church, I was not always the faithful active member. I have been through a lot of different experiences and trials in my life that has made me who I am today. You can't change the past, but you can always change what you learn and how you will be in the future. Around the age of 15 I had hit the biggest trial in my life, and I started to turn away from God, by not reading my scriptures and praying. The next 4 years of my life I felt like I had no purpose, that God had turned away from me, and that there was no way to be happy. When I moved out to go to BYU-Idaho, I no longer felt worthy to go to church, so I stopped going. Those months were hard, but in a way it was easy. It felt easy to not go to church, to not do the right things and have prayer and scripture study in my life. But after 2 1/2 months I realized how unhappy I was, that something is missing from my life. I then had to make a decision of whether I was going to be like this for the rest of my life or go back to church. I am grateful for one amazing roommate, my twin, and a friend who were the ones who inspired or supported me at this time in my life. They stood by me when I went to church and helped me realize that this church is for everyone. I know that there is a God. I have found happiness and purpose through this church and that it is Christ's church here on the Earth today. I know who I am and I know who my Savior Jesus Christ is. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I made the choice to be baptized and become a member because that was what I grew up with for 2 years. I didn't know at first, but when I decided to branch out of my parents testimonies and tried my own faith; that is when I really knew why I became a Mormon. I became a Mormon not because you are just taught about the principles of the gospel, but it is also a way of life. Being able to each day slowly become a better version of myself, and knowing that if I make mistakes that it's ok. That I can find joy and happiness in this life. That through Christ and his atonement, anyone can be happy and filled with His love.
